Objectives: To explore the alterations in immune cell composition in peripheral blood in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) based on their age group.
Methods: Patients with imaging confirmed AIS were enrolled from April 2019 to January 2020 and were divided into three groups according to their ages: <55 years (group-A), 5565 years (group-B), and >65 years (group-C). Blood samples were collected immediately when the patients were admitted to our ward prior to any intervention. Flow cytometry was used to analyze immune cell composition in peripheral blood.
Results: A total of 41 eligible patients were included for final analysis. Among the three groups, the proportions of CD56 CD16dim NK cells were least to greatest in group-B, group-A, then group-C, respectively. With increasing age, there was a decrease in the proportion of CD3 T-cells (group-A vs. group-C, P = 0.016) and CD3+CD4+ T-cells (group-C vs. group-A, = 0.008; group-C vs. group-B = 0.026). Meanwhile, no significant differences in proportions of monocytes and B cells were observed.
Conclusions: The compositions of immune cells in peripheral blood of AIS patients were distinct when divided by age groups. Differences in immune cell ratios may affect clinical outcomes and foreshadows possible need for customized treatment of AIS in different age groups.

Bacoside A (BCA), a triterpenoid saponin isolated from Bacopa monnieri, exhibits diverse pharmacological properties, including neuroprotective, hepatoprotective, anti-stress, anti-inflammatory, and anti-ulcer effects. In the present study, BCA demonstrates pronounced anticancer activity against K562 chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) cells by modulating autophagy-apoptosis dynamics. BCA induces dose- and time-dependent cytotoxicity in K562 cells while sparing normal human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (hPBMCs) and Vero cells, indicating therapeutic selectivity.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) frequently invades the portal vein, leading to early recurrence and a poor prognosis. However, the mechanisms underlying this invasion remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to detect portal vein circulating tumor cells (CTCs) using a Glypican-3-positive detection method and evaluate their prognostic significance.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common, complex, and untreatable form of dementia which is characterized by severe cognitive, motor, neuropsychiatric, and behavioural impairments. These symptoms severely reduce the quality of life for patients and impose a significant burden on caregivers. The existing therapies offer only symptomatic relief without addressing the underlying silent pathological progression.

Objective: To analyze and improve postoperative outcomes in patients with acute lower limb ischemia (ALLI) and previous reconstructive infrainguinal interventions.
Material And Methods: The authors analyzed postoperative outcomes after 54 repeated interventions in patients with thrombosis of common femoral artery bifurcation, deep femoral artery and non-functioning femoropopliteal (tibial) prosthesis.
Results: External-iliac-deep femoral replacement were performed in 28 (52%) patients, extended deep femoral artery repair - in 16 (29.

Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder lacking objective biomarkers for early diagnosis. DNA methylation is a promising epigenetic marker, and machine learning offers a data-driven classification approach. However, few studies have examined whole-blood, genome-wide DNA methylation profiles for ASD diagnosis in school-aged children.
