Behavioral flexibility depends on our capacity to build and leverage abstract knowledge about tasks. Recently, two separate lines of research have implicated distinct brain networks in representing abstract task information: a frontoparietal cortical network, and a network involving the medial temporal lobe (MTL), medial prefrontal, and orbitofrontal cortex (OMPFC). These observations have mostly been made in parallel, with little attempt to understand their relationship. Here, we hypothesize that abstract task representations in these networks differ primarily in format, not content. Namely, that the MTL-OMPFC network maintains task knowledge in a flexible cognitive map, while the frontoparietal network formats this knowledge as productions that facilitate action selection. We discuss novel implications and predictions for behavioral flexibility arising from this hypothesis.

Purpose: The purpose was to identify how the ICECAP-A and ICECAP-O have been used with adults who have neurological health conditions.
Methods: Following the Joanna Briggs Institute framework, a scoping review was conducted, searching five databases (Scopus, CINAHL, MEDLINE, Embase, and PsycINFO). Studies were included if participants were adults (age 18+ years) with neurological health conditions, and ICECAP-A or ICECAP-O were used in the study.
This study developed a GeoGebra platform-based interactive pedagogical tool focusing on plate theory to address challenges associated with abstract theory transmission, unidirectional knowledge delivery, and low student engagement in chromatography teaching in instrumental analysis courses. This study introduced an innovative methodology that encompasses theoretical model reconstruction, tool development, and teaching-chain integration that addresses the limitations of existing teaching tools, including the complex operation of professional software, restricted accessibility to web-based tools, and insufficient parameter-adjustment flexibility. An improved mathematical plate-theory model was established by incorporating mobile-phase flow rate, dead time, and phase ratio parameters.
