Article Abstract

Durable biocompatible metal vascular implants are still one of the significant challenges of contemporary medicine. This work presents the preparation of ferromagnetic biomaterials with shape memory in metal strips based on FePd (30 at% Pd) that is either not doped or doped with Ga and Mn, coated with poly(benzofuran--arylacetic acid) or polyglutamic acid. The coating of the metal strips with polymers was achieved after the metal surface had been previously treated with open-air cold plasma. The final functionalization was performed to induce anti-thrombogenic/thrombolytic properties in the resulting materials. SEM-EDX microscopy and X-ray photoelectron microscopy (XPS) determined the morphology and composition of the metal strips covered with polymers. In vitro tests of standardized thromboplastin time (PTT) and prothrombin time (PT) were performed to evaluate the thrombogenicity of these biofunctionalized materials for future possible monitoring of the implant in patients.

A triphenyl-imidazole end-capped donor-acceptor type potential molecular probe 3 has been designed and synthesized. Probe 3 upon interaction with different classes of metal ions/anions and NPPs displayed high selectivity with CN anion (LOD = 20.42 nM) through fluorescence "turn-Off" response and a naked-eye sensitive visible color change.

Crystal arrangements with versatile architectures can be developed by varying functionalization in structurally similar building components and exploring the significance of such networking, which remains a key focus of interest in the functional world of applied inorganic chemistry. In this context, we have introduced a series of novel coordination polymers (CPs), ({[Cd(L1)(SeCN)]·0.5CHCl.

Fluoride anion plays a vital role in the human health, but over exposure to fluoride can lead to severe diseases. Thus, it is of continuing interest to establish facile and effective methods for the quantitative analysis of fluoride ions. Herein, a dual-emission [Ru(bpy)]-encapsulated Zr-MOF composite material (Ru(bpy)@UiO-67-NH) was prepared by confining [Ru(bpy)] within the cavities of Zr-MOF (UiO-67-NH) a solvothermal method.

Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), often generated as a by-product during in vitro transcription, poses a significant challenge to therapeutic applications of mRNA. In this chapter, we present a rapid and sensitive lateral flow strip assay (LFSA) utilizing colloidal gold nanoparticles for detecting dsRNA contaminants in in vitro-transcribed mRNA. The assay delivers results within 15 min and achieves a limit of detection (LOD) of 69.

The extended use of antibiotics in dairy animals for the growth promotion and disease prevention is directly linked with the development of antimicrobial resistance. This study reports the development of a quick method for the detection of ampicillin residues in dairy milk, using the principle of Lateral Flow Assay (LFA). In this study, hapten against ampicillin was prepared by conjugation with bovine serum albumin.
