Purpose Of Review: This review aimed to increase the understanding of oncologists and physiatrists about the necessity, efficacy, and safety of rehabilitation in advanced cancer patients with bone metastases and neural compromise.
Recent Findings: Recently, there are growing evidence supporting the safety and efficacy of rehabilitation in patients with bone metastases and neural compromise. Despite the potential benefits of rehabilitation, however, rehabilitative services are considerably underutilized in clinical practice. Many oncologists are not familiar with functional issues and have limited understanding of the available rehabilitative services. Moreover, medical professionals, even physiatrists, have uncertainties and concerns about skeletal complications and often regard rehabilitation as a contraindication in this patient group. This review aimed to raise awareness on the role of rehabilitation in the continuum of cancer treatment, to improve its use in clinical practice. A multidisciplinary team approach involving physiatrist may facilitate integration of relevant clinicians.

Background: Lateral malleolar avulsion fracture (LMAF) and subfibular ossicle (SFO) are distinct entities that both present as small bone fragments near the lateral malleolus on imaging, yet require different treatment strategies. Clinical and radiological differentiation is challenging, which can impede timely and precise management. On imaging, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the diagnostic gold standard for differentiating LMAF from SFO, whereas radiological differentiation on computed tomography (CT) alone is challenging in routine practice.

Purpose: To investigate the images and treatment differences for Type IIIa atlantoaxial rotary dislocation (AARD) by comparing the imaging characteristics of patients with Type III and Type IIIa AARD.
Methods: The present study retrospectively analyzed a cohort of 35 patients who underwent posterior C1-C2 intra-articular fusion due to AARD from our hospital database. Among them, 23 patients were diagnosed with Type III AARD, while the remaining 12 patients were diagnosed with Type IIIa AARD.

The onset and progression of periodontitis are closely related to metabolic reprogramming in the periodontal microenvironment, with osteoclasts playing a critical role in tissue destruction. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) of periodontal tissues from healthy individuals and patients with severe chronic periodontitis revealed a significant increase in the expression of mitochondrial-related genes during osteoclast differentiation, suggesting the critical role of mitochondrial function in this process. This study investigates the potential of the novel mitoribosome-targeting antibiotic radezolid in inhibiting osteoclast differentiation.
