Starch is the main source of carbohydrates in human and animal diets. The extraction of this polysaccharide from unconventional residues of minimally processed foods represents an innovation in the production chain and promotes an appropriate destination for organic waste. Explicit references to a distinct field or discipline of risk appeared about 40-50 years ago, but it is only recently that the term "risk science" has been commonly used. To many scholars working with practical risk and safety issues, the risk field has been considered a rather narrow field and school of thought, mainly focusing on risk assessments and numbers. The scope of contemporary risk science is, however, wide, covering knowledge on all aspects of risk, including assessment, perception, communication, and management of risk.

Transposon-based genetic transformation enables stable transgene integration in avian genomes and is increasingly used in the development of transgenic chickens for enhanced disease resistance, productivity, and biopharmaceutical applications. Conventional transformation techniques in avian biotechnology, including viral vectors and primordial germ cell (PGC) manipulation, are limited by biosafety risks, low efficiency, and technical complexity. This protocol outlines a two-step cloning approach for generating transposon-compatible gene constructs suitable for chicken embryo microinjection.

Background: The Coronavirus Disease of 2019 (COVID-19) resulted in a global shift in gambling and trading behaviors. At present, a gap exists in understanding the relationship between excessive trading behavior and problem gambling, especially during the COVID-19 period. This narrative review analyzed (1) the changes in trading and gambling activity during the COVID-19 pandemic, (2) whether the pattern of trading activity resembles problem gambling, and (3) whether excessive trading and problem gambling share similar consequences.
