Enthesitis is considered a hallmark manifestation of spondyloarthritis including axial spondyloarthritis and psoriatic arthritis. Detection of enthesitis might be challenging in both diagnostic and classification processes. In this debate, we discuss the controversy on the role of imaging in the detection of enthesitis including the relevance for treatment decisions in spondyloarthritis.

Objectives: To explore the prevalence and distribution of ultrasound-detected lesions indicating structural damage at the enthesis (e.g., bone erosions, enthesophytes, and calcifications) in patients with spondyloarthritis (SpA), comparing those with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and to investigate the demographic, clinical, and metabolic factors linked to these lesions.

Objective: To characterize the clinical features, risk factors, and outcomes of juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis (JIA-U), aiming to improve early detection and management strategies.
Methods: This study conducted a retrospective cohort analysis of JIA patients diagnosed and treated at the Department of Rheumatology at Beijing Children's Hospital (2016-2023), with subgroup evaluation of JIA-U cases.
Results: Among 1494 JIA patients, 72 (4.

Objective: To investigate the role of growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) in ankylosing spondylitis (AS).
Methods: A proteoglycan-induced arthritis mouse model was established to mimic the pathologic changes of AS. Expression of GDF-15 in serum and the edge of the vertebral cartilage plate and the spinal entheseal sites in the model group was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunohistochemistry.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of difficult-to-treat psoriatic arthritis (D2T-PsA) and classify patients with persistent inflammatory PsA (PIPsA) and non-inflammatory PsA (NIPsA) based on a combination of clinical and musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) evidence of inflammation.
Methods: A multicentre cross-sectional study was conducted on PsA patients treated with biological disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs/targeted synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (b/tsDMARDs). D2T-PsA status was characterised by an inadequate response to ≥2 classes of b/tsDMARDs and the persistence of active disease, defined as a DAPSA >14.

Plantar fasciitis (PF) is a common enthesopathy in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Shear wave elastography (SWE) and the Belgrade ultrasound enthesitis score (BUSES) may detect PF, but their comparative diagnostic performance is unclear. To compare SWE with the BUSES for identifying PF in individuals with and without AS.
