Background: Infective endocarditis after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR-IE) is a rare but severe complication associated with high morbidity and mortality. The optimal treatment strategy-surgical explantation versus medical therapy-remains uncertain, particularly given the technical demands of TAVR removal and the advanced age of many affected patients.
Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies comparing the surgical and medical management of TAVR-IE.

Orthopedic trauma care is impacted by social determinants of health (SDOH) like socioeconomic status, education, and health care access. Disparities in these areas lead to worse outcomes, particularly in rural and low-income urban populations, who face higher mortality and delayed care. Despite their importance, routine SDOH screenings are underused in trauma settings.

Introduction: Transient synovitis (TS) in the setting of a COVID-19 infection has been reported only a few times in the literature. We report a case of TS 5 weeks following a positive COVID-19 test, in which three modified Kocher criteria were met. We aim to summarize and compare the clinical presentations of prior reported cases, and to expand the current understanding of extrapulmonary manifestations of COVID-19.

Cardiac myxomas extending from the right ventricle are uncommon and this rare condition is potentially associated with several risks and poor outcomes. We report the case of a patient with a right ventricular myxoma who had a recent haemorrhagic stroke due to an arteriovenous malformation. The preoperative and intraoperative managements were challenging and required several difficult choices by the medical team and consequently, a multidisciplinary approach and a benefit-risk evaluation were necessary to determinate timely surgical resection in an urgent situation, simultaneously avoiding delayed or improper treatments, achieving a successful outcome in a very high-risk situation.
