Background: The purpose of this study is to perform a systematic review of the literature comparing the utilization of tension-band wiring (TBW) and plate fixation for the surgical management of olecranon fractures.
Methods: A systematic search of articles in PubMed and Embase databases was carried out according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Studies comparing TBW to plate fixation for olecranon fractures were included.

Orthopedic trauma care is impacted by social determinants of health (SDOH) like socioeconomic status, education, and health care access. Disparities in these areas lead to worse outcomes, particularly in rural and low-income urban populations, who face higher mortality and delayed care. Despite their importance, routine SDOH screenings are underused in trauma settings.

Background: Outpatient arthroplasty offers several benefits, including reduced hospital stay, lower costs, and decreased risk of hospital-acquired infections. The purpose of this study is to compare short-term outcomes, including complication rates, readmissions and reoperations, between inpatient and outpatient revision reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA).
Materials And Methods: All revision rTSA performed from July 2013 and January 2024 were retrospectively analyzed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to systematically review the literature to assess surgical complications following surgical management of olecranon fractures.
Methods: A literature search of MEDLINE, Embase, and the Cochrane Library was performed based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Clinical studies reporting complications following olecranon fracture management were included.

Background: Superior labral tears are common shoulder injuries among athletes, and for athletes undergoing surgical intervention, one of the main priorities is to return to preinjury levels of activity in a timely manner. However, the literature surrounding return to play after superior labral repair presents inconsistent results, with limited studies evaluating the timing of return to play.
Purpose: To systematically review the rate and timing of return to play in athletes after arthroscopic superior labral repair.
Purpose: Studies demonstrate similar long-term Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) outcomes in patients with significant versus minimal preoperative coronal plane deformity. Limited short-term outcomes data, which determine costs of care, exist.
Methods: We retrospectively explored the impact of preoperative coronal plane deformity on operative time, length of stay (LOS), and discharge to skilled nursing facility (SNF) in TKA.
Background: Understanding the impact of Social Drivers of Health on shoulder arthroplasty is pivotal for the development of equitable value-based payment models that enhance the quality of patient care. This investigation aims to understand the influence of Area Deprivation Index (ADI) on hospital admissions, readmissions, and associated costs postshoulder arthroplasty.
Methods: We conducted an analysis using US Medicare claims data from 2019 to 2021, identifying patients who received shoulder arthroplasty in either an inpatient or outpatient setting using Current Procedural Terminology codes.
Background: The aim of this study was to systematically review the literature on concomitant repair of superior labral and rotator cuff tears, in light of the paucity of published clinical evidence.
Methods: A Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses compliant search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases was performed for clinical studies of patients undergoing combined repairs of the rotator cuff and superior labrum.
Results: Ten studies comprising 241 shoulders were included, with a mean age of 52.
Background: Reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is an established operative treatment for failed rotator cuff repair (RCR) that may not be amenable to revision repair. The purpose of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the clinical outcomes for patients undergoing RSA following prior failed RCR compared with patients without prior RCR undergoing primary RSA.
Methods: A systematic search of articles in Pubmed, EMBASE and The Cochrane Library databases was carried out according to PRISMA guidelines.
Introduction: In low- and middle-income countries such as Haiti, musculoskeletal injuries are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Untreated injuries can contribute to decreased mobility, leading to disability and reduced productivity for individuals. The accessibility of timely fracture care poses a substantial challenge in Haiti, where socioeconomic instability and recent surges in gang violence exacerbate an already strained healthcare infrastructure.

However, concerns persist regarding bias in adherence to guideline-concordant care leading to disparities in implementing high-quality care for patients recovering from surgery for hip fracture.
Objective: To assess disparities in the implementation of guideline-concordant care for patients after hip fracture surgery in the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS-NSQIP) Targeted Hip Fracture (THF) Database.

Introduction: The effect of social drivers of health (SDOH) on readmissions and costs after total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is poorly understood. Policies such as the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program have targeted overall readmission reduction, using value-based strategies to improve healthcare quality. However, the implications of SDOH on these outcomes are not yet understood.

Methods: Two independent reviewers performed the literature search based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines using the EMBASE, MEDLINE, and The Cochrane Library databases. Studies were included if they reported clinical outcomes for revision RSA for a failed primary TSA or HA.

Background: The purpose of this study is to systematically review the evidence in the literature to ascertain the functional outcomes, recurrence rates, and subsequent revision rates following type V superior labrum anterior to posterior (SLAP) repair.
Methods: Two independent reviewers performed a literature search based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines, utilizing the EMBASE, MEDLINE, and the Cochrane Library Databases. Studies were included if they had clinical outcomes on the patients undergoing type V SLAP repair.
Background: Videos relating to rehabilitation exercises for common injuries relevant to younger populations such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear receive high view counts on social media platforms such as TikTok.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to analyze the quality, reliability, and educational value of TikTok videos among the patient population for ACL injury. It was hypothesized that TikTok videos related to ACL rehabilitation exercises would lack quality, reliability, and educational value.
BackgroundAs new literature emerges and practice patterns fluctuate, there is a significant potential for variation with regard to adjunctive procedures performed with primary total ankle arthroplasty (pTAA) and revision total ankle arthroplasty (rTAA). Our study aims to evaluate yearly trends in the incidence of concomitant procedures and compare the incidence of adjunctive procedures between pTAA and rTAA.MethodsThe 2012-2020 American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS-NSQIP) database was queried for all pTAA and rTAA.

Background: The purpose of this study is to perform a systematic review of the literature evaluating the importance of subscapularis repair in patients who underwent reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA).
Methods: A systematic search of articles in PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library databases was carried out according to the PRISMA guidelines. Cohort studies comparing RSA with subscapularis repair vs.
Background: Because of the lack of scientific oversight, the quality, applicability, and consistency of healthcare-related TikTok videos have become a focus of research exploration. The orthopaedic surgery literature lags behind other medical fields in analyzing the widespread utilization of TikTok videos for medical information delivery.
Methods: TikTok was queried using the hashtag #shoulderstabilityexercises, and 109 videos were included.
Background: Social media platforms, like TikTok, have become popular options for the distribution of health care information. Because of the lack of scientific oversight, the quality of health care-related videos has become a focus of the current literature. However, orthopaedic surgery has lagged behind other fields in acknowledging the widespread utilization of TikTok videos for medical information consumption.
