Mitochondria continually undergo fission to maintain their network and health. Nascent fission sites are marked by the ER, which facilitates actin polymerization to drive calcium flux into the mitochondrion and constrict the inner mitochondrial membrane. Septins are a major eukaryotic cytoskeleton component that forms filaments that can both directly and indirectly modulate other cytoskeleton components, including actin.

Chronic intestinal pseudo-obstruction (CIPO) is a rare and severe intestinal motility disorder with poor long-term prognosis and high mortality rate, especially when the small intestine is involved. Due to the non-specificity of clinical symptoms, CIPO has long faced diagnostic challenges. With the advancements of sequencing technology, many hereditary CIPOs have been identified.

Camels have unique morphological traits that enable them to adapt well to harsh conditions. This work aims to describe the vascular architecture of the camel retina and investigate its cellular components with a focus on the distribution of mitochondria in Muller cells and photoreceptors, using light and electron microscopy. The camel retina is euangiotic in which blood vessels extend in the inner retina from the nerve fiber layer to the outer plexiform layer.

Aim: To investigate the functional significance of mitophagy in age-related osteogenic decline and the underlying mechanisms using in vivo and in vitro models.
Materials And Methods: An alveolar bone defect model in aged mice and a serial passaging-induced ageing model of human periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) were established. Osteogenic potential in mice was assessed by micro-CT, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemical analyses and histological staining.

Carbon monoxide (CO) has demonstrated significant potential in tumor therapy. However, the uncontrolled release of CO and single-modality therapy often fail to achieve the desired therapeutic outcomes. To address the above deficiencies, mesoporous silica nanoparticles containing tetrasulfide bonds (TMSNs) were constructed as intelligent nanocarriers to co-deliver a mitochondria-targeting photosensitizer (Au-TPP) and a photodynamically activated CO-releasing molecule (FeCO), enabling the synergistic combination of photodynamic therapy (PDT) and CO therapy.
