Article Abstract

s.l. is a complex of taxa traditionally regarded as members of . It has a wide Mediterranean range, extending in the north to Central and Eastern Europe, and in the east to the Crimea, the Caucasus, and the Western Caspian region. Molecular phylogenetic data support placement of the complex in the genus . The present study investigated the phylogeny, phylogeography and morphological variability of the complex across its distribution range to reveal the main trends in genetic and morphological differentiation in this group. The results of the morphological analyses demonstrated some degree of differentiation, with ssp. , ssp. , and ssp. more or less well defined, whereas ssp. , ssp. , and ssp. can be hardly distinguished from each other using morphology. Analyses of the complex based on nrITS revealed a tendency towards a geographic differentiation into Western, Eastern, and Turkish groups. Phylogenetic and phylogeographic analyses of the same set of specimens using concatenated plastid markers L-F, 16, and A-H demonstrated a low resolution between the complex and , as well as among the taxa within the complex, which can be interpreted as evidence of an incomplete lineage sorting or hybridization. The evolutionary processes responsible for incongruence in phylogenetic signals between plastid and nuclear sequences of the morphologically well-defined species and were most likely localized in the Eastern Mediterranean. A possibility of rare gene exchange between the complex and the group of is revealed for the first time.

Objective: Pain hypersensitivity and hypersensitivity to other sensory modalities (visual, auditory, olfactory, and tactile) are considered defining features in nociplastic pain states. A self-report measure of sensory sensitivity may help to characterize sensory profiles across pain populations. This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of a newly developed Danish nine-item Sensory Sensitivity Profile (SSP) questionnaire in patients with fibromyalgia.

Sensory processing (SP) difficulties, such as heightened sensitivity to sensory input, have been linked to prolonged recovery and persistent post-concussive symptoms in adults following mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). However, research on SP across different sensory inputs after pediatric mTBI is limited. This study examined SP patterns in children and adolescents aged 6-17 years with mTBI at 2 weeks and 6 months post-injury.

Host-pathogen interactions involve two critical strategies: resistance, whereby hosts clear invading microbes, and tolerance, whereby hosts carry high pathogen burden asymptomatically. Here, we investigate mechanisms by which Salmonella-superspreader (SSP) hosts maintain an asymptomatic state during chronic infection. We found that regulatory T cells (Tregs) are essential for this disease-tolerant state, limiting intestinal immunopathology and enabling SSP hosts to thrive, while facilitating Salmonella transmission.

Bidens macroptera symbolizes the change of a season, marking the transition from the rainy season to autumn, heralding the new year for Ethiopians. Despite a general understanding of its geographic regions, significant gaps remain in identifying the habitat distribution and key predictor variables of Bidens macroptera through species distribution modeling (SDM) in the context of climate change. We developed an ensemble species distribution model using 2 statistical and 3 machine learning algorithms.

Unlabelled: This study aimed to develop a plant-based cheese alternative with an improved nutritional profile and a texture similar to traditional Italian cow's cheese. The formulation combined a 1:1 blend of chickpea and oat concentrates (PCs), bamboo fiber (BF), and water. A simplex-centroid mixture design was employed to examine how varying these components (PCs: 10-20 g 100 g, BF: 0-10 g 100 g, Water: 60-70 g 100 g) affected the textural and cutting properties of the product.
