We report a case of nonaccidental trauma in a child who presented emergently with bilateral corneal abrasions of unclear etiology. It was later discovered that these lesions were actually caused by the newborn's father, who had forcefully pressed his thumbs against the child's orbits. Although uncommon, such types of anterior segment pathology should raise suspicion of nonaccidental trauma.

Birth-related long bone fractures are rare but clinically significant events that require careful evaluation to distinguish them from fractures caused by underlying pathological conditions or non-accidental trauma. Their diagnosis and management have important clinical and medico-legal implications. A selective literature review was conducted to identify relevant studies published between 2004 and 2024, regarding incidence, mode of delivery, fracture location, time to diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes.

Pediatric hip fractures are rare and pose significant clinical challenges in their treatment. These fractures typically result from high-energy trauma, while low-energy mechanisms should raise suspicion for pathological fractures or non-accidental injury. Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort study was performed for children 5 years of age and younger arriving via EMS from January 2016 through December 2018. NAT finding was made by a Multidisciplinary Child Protection Team of child abuse clinicians, representatives from Child Protective Services, law enforcement, and District Attorney's offices.
