Monopolar spindle One Binder1 (MOB1) proteins are conserved components of the tumor-suppressing Hippo pathway, regulating cellular processes such as cytokinesis. Apicomplexan parasites present a life cycle that relies on the parasites' ability to differentiate between stages and regulate their proliferation; thus, Hippo signaling pathways could play an important role in the regulation of the apicomplexan life cycle. Here, we report the identification of one MOB1 protein in the apicomplexan . To characterize the function of MOB1, we generated gain-of-function transgenic lines with a ligand-controlled destabilization domain, and loss-of-function clonal lines obtained through CRISPR/Cas9 technology. Contrary to what has been characterized in other eukaryotes, MOB1 is not essential for cytokinesis in . However, this picture is complex since we found MOB1 localized between the newly individualized daughter nuclei at the end of mitosis. Moreover, we detected a significant delay in the replication of overexpressing tachyzoites, contrasting with increased replication rates in knockout tachyzoites. Finally, using the proximity-biotinylation method, BioID, we identified novel members of the MOB1 interactome, a probable consequence of the observed lack of conservation of some key amino acid residues. Altogether, the results point to a complex evolutionary history of MOB1 roles in apicomplexans, sharing properties with other eukaryotes but also with divergent features, possibly associated with their complex life cycle.

Organic electrode materials have garnered great attention in recent years, owing to their resource sustainability, structural diversity, and superior compatibility with various ionic species. Among them, quinone-based compounds have attracted particular interest. Notably, compared with para-quinone analogs (e.

Waste three-way catalysts (TWCs) and waste LiCoO batteries represent critical environmental challenges due to hazardous components yet contain high-value resources, and their recycling has garnered widespread attention. We propose a novel 'waste-to-waste' synergistic recycling where spent LiCoO batteries reconstruct mineral phases of waste TWCs, enabling co-recovery of platinum group metals and Li/Co without traditional oxidants. However, the environmental performance of this process still requires further analysis.

Background And Hypotheses: Sexual minority youth are at increased risk for psychotic experiences, potentially due to identity-related difficulties. We hypothesized that sexual minority youth would report greater identity difficulties, and that these difficulties would be associated with heightened suspiciousness in daily life. Finally, we examined whether these associations differ between sexual minority and heterosexual adolescents.

Natural mortality rate (M) is a crucial parameter for fish and other species. In fisheries management it is common practice to obtain estimates of M using one of several empirical formulas available in the literature. However, when using these formulas, an important question arises: for which life stage or age does the estimated rate pertain to? In the present work, gnomonic stage-specific mortality rates are estimated for Totoaba macdonaldi, a vulnerable fish species of the gulf of California.

Background: Neuropathic pain (NP) is frequently resistant to conventional treatments. Botulinum toxin type A (BT-A) is a recommended option for focal peripheral NP, but the dynamics of its effect in real-life conditions remain poorly characterized.
Objective: To assess BT-A efficacy in a real-world study of patients with focal peripheral NP, over a 1-year follow-up period.
