Existing electronically integrated catheters rely on the manual assembly of separate components to integrate sensing and actuation capabilities. This strongly impedes their miniaturization and further integration. Here, we report an electronically integrated self-assembled microcatheter. Electronic components for sensing and actuation are embedded into the catheter wall through the self-assembly of photolithographically processed polymer thin films. With a diameter of only about 0.1 mm, the catheter integrates actuated digits for manipulation and a magnetic sensor for navigation and is capable of targeted delivery of liquids. Fundamental functionalities are demonstrated and evaluated with artificial model environments and ex vivo tissue. Using the integrated magnetic sensor, we develop a strategy for the magnetic tracking of medical tools that facilitates basic navigation with a high resolution below 0.1 mm. These highly flexible and microsized integrated catheters might expand the boundary of minimally invasive surgery and lead to new biomedical applications.

This paper explores the interrelations between medical specialisation, the changing division of medical labour and the technologies that have emerged to coordinate and integrate patient care. Drawing on the examples of the United Kingdom and the United States, countries whose health systems provide important points of commonality and distinction, I explore the intersections between the rise of medical specialisation and the creation of new medical and paramedical roles. These roles have often emerged as a palliative to the increasing fragmentation and atomisation of medical labour, to 'assist' overburdened clinicians and provide better coordinated and integrated patient care.

A flexible bipolarization conversion metasurface based on graphene is proposed in this paper, which can achieve single-band linear-to-linear (LTL) and dual-band linear-to-circular (LTC) polarization conversion. The polarization conversion ratio (PCR) and axial ratio (AR) are dynamically regulated by varying the sheet resistance () of graphene. When = 1400 Ω Sq, the designed metasurface achieves a single-band LTL polarization conversion of 7.

Background: Pupils in alternative education provision, known as 'Educated in Other Than At School' (EOTAS) in Wales, UK, are among the most vulnerable learners and who, for reasons such as mental health or behavioural challenges, do not attend a mainstream or special school.
Aims: We compared self-harm, neurodevelopmental disorders and mental health conditions between EOTAS pupils and controls with similar characteristics, before and after being in EOTAS provision.
Method: This population-based electronic cohort study included pupils in Wales aged 7-18 years, from the academic years 2010-11 to 2018-19.

Owing to their distinctive thickness and physical attributes, two-dimensional (2D) materials have exhibited considerable promise in the field of microelectronic devices. Notably, 2D magnetic materials that maintain long-range magnetic order and can be readily modulated by external fields have garnered substantial attention. However, CrSBr, despite being a 2D van der Waals (vdW) semiconducting magnet with an appropriate band gap and stability in air, faces significant hindrance for practical utilization due to its Curie temperature () of 146 K.

Aroma differentiation is a key trait distinguishing citrus and other horticultural crops from staple crops. However, the mechanisms and sensory features by which distinctive and various citrus-like aroma in citrus remain poorly understood. In this study, we demonstrated that γ-terpinene determines tangerine-like aroma, affects consumer preference, and has pest-repellent properties.
