Synovial sarcomas occur predominantly in the extremities. Primary renal synovial sarcoma is a rare entity. Very few cases have been reported in the literature. Clinical and radiological features are similar to renal cell carcinoma with the diagnosis being established after surgery based on histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and chromosome studies. There are no established guidelines on the role of adjuvant treatment in the management of this disease. We herein present a series of 3 cases managed at 2 institutions. In the current series, all patients had venous thrombus, and surgery was the mainstay of treatment. One patient received neoadjuvant chemotherapy after a preoperative biopsy which was done as she did not respond to chemotherapy for a presumptive diagnosis of Wilm's tumor.

Introduction: Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is often performed for critically ill patients in intensive care units (ICUs), but its optimal indication and settings have yet to be determined. Thus, we aimed to describe the current status of CRRT in Japan through a multicenter retrospective observational study.
Methods: Adult ICU patients receiving CRRT at 18 tertiary hospitals in Japan (up to 100 patients from each hospital over the past year) were retrospectively enrolled.

As plasma biomarkers like p-tau217 move towards clinical use in Alzheimer's disease (AD), it is important to understand how kidney function may influence their accuracy. Even mild chronic kidney disease (CKD) can alter biomarker levels, potentially impacting test performance. While accounting for renal function may improve specificity, it could reduce sensitivity without greatly changing overall diagnostic accuracy.

Background: Active vitamin D metabolites, including 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25D) and 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (1,25D), have potent immunomodulatory effects that attenuate acute kidney injury (AKI) in animal models.
Methods: We conducted a phase 2, randomized, double-blind, multiple-dose, 3-arm clinical trial comparing oral calcifediol (25D), calcitriol (1,25D), and placebo among 150 critically ill adult patients at high-risk of moderate-to-severe AKI. The primary endpoint was a hierarchical composite of death, kidney replacement therapy (KRT), and kidney injury (baseline-adjusted mean change in serum creatinine), each assessed within 7 days following enrollment using a rank-based procedure.

This study aims to assess morbidity, mortality, and oncological outcomes of patients treated surgically for renal cancer with IVC extension over a 30-year period, in two experienced centers.

Copeptin, a stable glycopeptide derived from the precursor of arginine vasopressin (AVP), has emerged as a valuable surrogate biomarker for AVP due to its stability and ease of measurement. This narrative review explores the physiological role of copeptin, its utility as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker in different kidney diseases, and its clinical relevance in renal tubular disorders. The clinical application of copeptin as a diagnostic biomarker is best established in the differential diagnosis of polyuria-polydipsia syndrome (PPS), distinguishing nephrogenic diabetes insipidus (NDI) from central diabetes insipidus (CDI) and primary polydipsia (PP).
