The COVID-19 pandemic foiled the hospitality industry offering no clear insight as to what to expect regarding the emergence of possible new industry standards as likely corollaries of the pandemic. The accommodation sector is one of the most affected sectors in the hospitality industry, especially small lodging establishments incurring the most dramatic brunt of the pandemic's long-tail effects. This study employed a breakeven (BC) analysis to examine the pandemic's opportunity cost and the financial resilience efforts that SLEs should undertake to bounce back or bounce forward. The case study centers on the Superior Small Lodgings (SSL) of Florida, USA. The results suggest that the opportunity cost varies depending on the SLE profiles, and hence resilience approaches should consider heterogeneous business responses.

Biological carbon removal has been proposed as a 'win-win' for climate, sustainability and public opinion, but research on public perceptions is lacking explicit evidence on trade-offs between options. Here we explore perceptions using small group deliberation (n60) plus a nationally representative survey (n2027) in the UK's four jurisdictions. We find a strong preference for carbon removal to play a substantial role in meeting national climate targets, stemming from persistent scepticism about emissions reductions and behaviour change.

Background: In small animals, serum total thyroxine concentration (TT) is an important parameter used to assess thyroid function in patients. In rabbits, no information is available on the prevalence of thyroid disease and its diagnosis by laboratory methods. The aim of this study was to establish a device- and method-specific reference interval for TT in clinically healthy rabbits.

Area-level measures of deprivation in Sweden often rely on limited socio-economic indicators, such as income or education. To address this, we developed the Index of Multiple Deprivation in Sweden (IMDIS) to capture a multitude of explanatory factors for socio-economic inequalities and the distribution across small areas in Sweden. The IMDIS is a compositional index constructed for small areas in Sweden in 2015 and combines 15 indicators across 4 domains (Housing, Employment, Income and Capital, and Education) into an overall deprivation score.

Objectives: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Celt arterial closure device (ACD), allowing immediate upright position and ambulation within 30 minutes, for femoral access closure in neuroendovascular procedures.
Methods: Single center prospective study of consecutive neuroendovascular procedures performed via transfemoral access over 6 months. The Celt ACD was preferentially used for arterial closure in eligible cases.
