Introduction Few studies have highlighted the correlation between shoulder dislocation and keratoconus (KC). This study aimed to examine the association between KC and shoulder dislocation using patients with KC and matched controls. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted at Jordan University Hospital. We included patients diagnosed with KC from Jordan University Hospital's Ophthalmology Department between 2015 and 2018. We also included age- and sex-matched controls recruited randomly from fitness centers and shopping malls. All participants had complete ophthalmic and orthopedic assessments. KC was diagnosed by clinical examination followed by Pentacam (Scheimpflug Images, Oculyzer, WaveLight, Alcon, USA) confirmation. Results A total of 238 patients, with a mean age of 29.53 (±11.20) years, were included in this study. They were 144 (60.5%) men and 94 (39.5%) women. Moreover, 120 (50.4%) had KC while 118 (49.6%) did not have KC. Only 11 (4.6%) patients had previous shoulder dislocation. We did not find a significant difference in the frequency of shoulder dislocation between patients with and without KC (p = 0.512). Conclusion This study provides further evidence on the lack of association between shoulder dislocation and KC, an association that was presumed due to shared collagen characteristics.

Background: Hemi-hamate osteochondral grafting is a surgical technique that is utilized to reconstruct the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint in cases of unstable dorsal fracture-dislocation with >50% articular surface involvement. However, hemi-hamate osteochondral grafting can be technically challenging, has been reported to have various technical modifications, and can lead to complications such as overstuffing of the joint. This surgical technique article describes successful PIP joint reconstruction with use of a hemi-capitate osteochondral graft, which may offer a viable alternative to hemi-hamate osteochondral graft.

Introduction: Proximal humeral fracture-dislocations (PHF-D) are complex injuries, often requiring urgent intervention. However, management protocols remain unclear when anatomical reduction of the glenohumeral joint is achieved, but significant displacement of the greater tuberosity persists. The lack of consensus on whether to reclassify such injuries after reduction creates uncertainty in rehabilitation strategies.

Bedrock fault dislocations significantly influence the rupture instability of rock and soil slopes adjacent to fault zones. Understanding the dynamic processes, kinematic characteristics, and genesis mechanisms of landslides induced by strong seismic fault dislocations is crucial for advancing the theoretical framework of landslide studies. This paper presents a representative experiment simulating the emergence of seismic faults (internal rupture belts within the soil mass) at the shoulders and toes of slopes due to bedrock fault dislocations.

Background: Management of a first-time anterior shoulder dislocation in young and active patients remains a topic of ongoing debate. This study aims to use choice-based conjoint analysis to identify the factors influencing a surgeon's decision-making process and explore potential heterogeneity in the identified decision patterns.
Methods: A discrete choice experiment was conducted among all 94 members of the Belgian Elbow and Shoulder Society.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the clinical efficacy and radiological results of three surgical methods for treating Rockwood III-V acromioclavicular dislocation.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 62 patients with acute Rockwood III-V acromioclavicular dislocation who were admitted to our hospital from September 2017 to December 2022. Among these patients, 19 received the modified Weaver-Dunn technique (Group A), 20 underwent the arthroscopic single tunnel technique (Group B), and 23 received the arthroscopic coracoid sling technique (Group C).
