Different rice farming systems affect the soil microbial communities. Here, we report the results of 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing of soils collected from intensive rice cultivation and rice-shrimp farming systems in Soc Trang, Vietnam. The dominant phyla in these systems were , , , , and .

Hybrid breeding based on male sterility requires the removal of male parents, which is time- and labor-intensive; however, the use of female sterile male parent can solve this problem. In the offspring of distant hybridization between Brassica oleracea and Brassica napus, we obtained a mutant, 5GH12-279, which not only fails to generate gynoecium (thereby causing female sterility) but also has serrated leaves that could be used as a phenotypic marker in seedling screening. Genetic analysis revealed that this trait was controlled by a single dominant gene.

This study aimed to evaluate the near-cortical over-drilling technique on the mechanical behaviour of bone-plate constructs in a rabbit transverse femoral fracture. In vitro biomechanical testing and finite element (FE) models were used for analyses. Rabbits' bones (n = 14) were divided into two groups: G1 - without near-cortical over-drilling, and G2 - with near-cortical over-drilling.

Background: In the United States, cancer is more prevalent in racial and ethnic minority groups and in rural-dwelling and low-income people. Compared with White people of non-Hispanic descent, Black and African American people have higher cancer mortality and Hispanic people are more likely to be diagnosed with infection-related cancers. In addition, people who live in persistent poverty areas are more vulnerable to cancer mortality.

Background: The H5N1 avian influenza A virus represents a serious threat to both animal and human health, with the potential to escalate into a global pandemic. Effective monitoring of social media during H5N1 avian influenza outbreaks could potentially offer critical insights to guide public health strategies. Social media platforms like Reddit, with their diverse and region-specific communities, provide a rich source of data that can reveal collective attitudes, concerns, and behavioral trends in real time.
