This paper presents an 8-channel array of low-noise (30.3 fA/√Hz) current sensing front-ends with on-chip microelectrode electrochemical sensors. The analog front-end (AFE) consists of a 1-order continuous-time delta-sigma (CT ΔΣ) modulator that achieves 123 fA sensitivity over a 10 Hz bandwidth and 139 dB cross-scale dynamic range with a 2-bit programmable current reference. A digital predictor and tri-level pulse width modulated (PWM) current-steering DAC realize the equivalent performance of a multi-bit ΔΣ in an area- and power-efficient manner. The AFE consumes 50.3 µW and 0.11 mm per readout channel. The proposed platform was used to observe protein-ligand interactions in real-time using transient induced molecular electronic spectroscopy (TIMES), a label- and immobilization-free biosensing technique.

Emergent aquatic insects serve as high-quality prey for terrestrial consumers. However, persistent contaminants, such as metals, can affect aquatic insect larvae development, potentially inducing a selection process favoring more tolerant individuals and populations. Whether this adaptation ultimately influences the quantity and quality of subsidy to terrestrial riparian ecosystems remains unclear.

As both phenolic acids and salt accumulate in greenhouse soil, soil-grown plants in greenhouses are exposed to both phenolic acid and salt stresses. However, no method for mitigating these combined stresses has been reported for soil-grown plants. In this study, we examined whether bacterial inoculation could alleviate the combined stresses of phenolic acids and salt and facilitate plant productivity in greenhouse.

Air pollution exposure enhances the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Epidemiological studies provide strong evidence of a link between exposure to ambient particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter< 2.5 µm (PM) and development of cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.

This study introduces the synthesis and detailed characterization of six novel nonsymmetric (E/Z)-isomeric mixtures of 1,3-diether-2-alkenes derived from precursors with a glycerol skeleton: 1-((3-butoxyallyl)oxy)heptane ([H, A, B]), 1-(2-methoxyethoxy)-5-methylhex-2-ene ([ME, A, IP]), 1-((3-(2-methoxyethoxy)prop-1-en-1-yl)oxy)butane ([ME, A, B]), ((3-isopropoxyprop-1-en-1-yl)oxy)benzene ([IP, A, Ph]), ((3-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)prop-1-en-1-yl)oxy)benzene ([F, A, Ph]), and 1-(allyloxy)-3-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)prop-1-ene ([F, A, A]). These compounds were synthesized via a three-step reaction starting from various glycidyl ethers, purified by fractional distillation and drying, and obtained with overall isolated yields of at least 60%. The ratio of isomer configurations (E:E:Z:Z) varied based on substituents R and R.

Background And Objectives: Linking adult health to early life is limited by a lack of retrospective biomarkers of stress tied to narrow windows of early development. Teeth serve as ideal data sources to examine early life because their hard tissues endure from infancy through adulthood as permanent records of developmental stress. This study examines if dental fluctuating asymmetry (FA) in permanent molars, a measure of instability and plastic responses to stress, is associated with biocultural factors during development.
