Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), the main catechin in green tea, is associated with antidiabetic and anti-obesity effects, although its acute hepatic actions remain unclear. We investigated short-term effects of EGCG (10-500 μm) using isolated perfused rat livers and complementary assays in mitochondrial, microsomal, and cytosolic fractions. EGCG markedly inhibited gluconeogenesis from lactate (up to 52%), glycerol (33%), and alanine (47%), while it stimulated glycolysis, glycogenolysis, and oleic acid oxidation (+42% total ketone bodies).

Polyethylene glycol (peg)-asparaginase plays a crucial role in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) treatment, yet its associated toxicity often leads to treatment discontinuation, elevating relapse risk. Hypersensitivity with inactivation of asparaginase is common and often associated with severe allergic reactions. This study aims to comprehensively analyse asparaginase enzyme activity (AEA) pharmacokinetics, validate a previously developed pharmacokinetic model based on intravenous administration and evaluate its capability to detect changes in clearance before inactivation in patients treated with intramuscular peg-asparaginase.

Acute leukaemias are the commonest cancers in children and young people (CYP). Off-treatment surveillance is assumed to improve relapse detection, but whether this affects subsequent survival and quality of life is unclear. This systematic review searched 13 databases and two trial registries in December 2022.
