Functional neurologic symptom disorder (FNSD) is a multifaceted condition that can present with neurologic symptoms inconsistent with recognized neurological disease, often in the context of psychosocial stressors, though these are not required for diagnosis. We report the case of a 12-year-old Hispanic female who developed episodes of limb paralysis, motor unresponsiveness, and self-injurious behaviors following a history of sexual abuse by a family member. Despite the initial absence of depressive symptoms, the patient later met criteria for major depressive disorder (MDD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Beyond their classical roles in hemostasis and coagulation, accumulating evidence highlights platelets as multifaceted regulators within the nervous system. Research has revealed that platelet-derived factors promote blood-brain barrier (BBB) maturation and angiogenesis via neurochemical pathways. At the same time, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) facilitates neural regeneration by mitigating the neurotoxicity of amyloid-beta (Aβ) and activating the PI3k/Akt signaling pathway.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a multifactorial metabolic disorder described by chronic hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, as well as low-grade inflammation. Recent research highlights the vital role of the gut microbiota in the pathogenesis and progression of T2DM. Dysbiosis can impair intestinal barrier integrity, promote systemic inflammation, and contribute to insulin resistance and glucose metabolism dysfunction.

Impulsivity is a multi-dimensional construct that plays a crucial role in human behaviour and is believed to be a transdiagnostic marker of several psychiatric disorders. However, given its multi-faceted nature, investigations of its neural correlates are challenging and systematic comparisons across dimensions are lacking. In this study, we used a comprehensive multi-modal approach to investigate the functional network organisation of two dimensions in which impulsivity manifests: decision-making and response inhibition.

Background: Methamphetamine (METH) addiction is a global concern due to its severe impact on public health, including heightened aggression and neurotoxic effects. Genetic and epigenetic factors, particularly involving the and genes, are implicated in individual vulnerability to METH addiction. Thus, understanding the molecular mechanisms involved is crucial for developing targeted prevention and treatment strategies.
