: Until recently, advanced HCC patients with major vessel and cardiac involvement have had an extremely poor prognosis without satisfactory treatment. : A 63-year-old Taiwanese male presented with metastatic HCC with RA and IVC thrombi, as well as pulmonary metastases that were successfully treated by multimodal management, encompassed by surgical thrombectomy, concurrent systemic sorafenib and locoregional therapies, and immunotherapy. The patient has achieved a complete response over the past 33 months. : Through this case report, which shows a successful outcome via multimodal management, a more aggressive approach should be considered when a patient is expected to tolerate the risks and side effects of various treatments.

Background: IgA nephropathy is a disease with a highly variable natural history, for which there is an increasing understanding of the role of complement activation in its pathogenesis and progression. We aimed to assess the clinical and prognostic implications of C4d staining in the kidney biopsy of IgA nephropathy patients.
Methods: This was a retrospective observational study wherein the medical records of IgA nephropathy patients were reviewed and baseline characteristics, kidney biopsy findings, treatment response and follow-up data were noted.

Background: Trials of neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy (chemoIO) have changed the standard of care for resectable nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study characterizes the outcomes of off-trial patients who received treatment with neoadjuvant chemoIO.
Methods: The authors analyzed records of patients with stage IB-III NSCLC who received neoadjuvant chemoIO with an intent to proceed to surgical resection at three US academic institutions.

Background The optimal surgical management of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer with calcifications remains controversial, particularly when pathologic complete response (pCR) is suspected. Purpose To identify factors associated with pCR after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with HER2-positive breast cancer and assess whether calcifications affect the performance of radiologic complete response (rCR) at MRI for predicting pCR. Materials and Methods This retrospective study included patients with HER2-positive breast cancer who received neoadjuvant docetaxel, carboplatin, trastuzumab, and pertuzumab and underwent surgery between January 2021 and October 2023.

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic response to corticosteroids (CS), conventional immunosuppressants (IS) and biotherapies in patients with birdshot retinochoroidopathy (BSCR).
Methods: retrospective observational monocentric cohort study of 44 patients (87 eyes) with BSCR. We evaluated the therapeutic response between 4 and 12 months for venous vasculitis, capillary leakage, choroiditis and macular edema for the different therapeutic lines in each treated eye, a total of 225 evaluations.

Electrical pulse stimulation (EPS) represents a useful tool to study exercise-related adaptations of muscle cells in vitro. Here, we examine the metabolic and secretory response of primary human muscle cells from metabolically healthy individuals to the EPS protocol reflecting the episodic nature of real-life exercise training. This intermittent EPS protocol alternates high-frequency stimulation periods with low-frequency resting periods.
