Green algae are fast-growing microorganisms that are considered promising for the production of starch and neutral lipids, and the chlorococcal green alga is a favorable model, as it can produce both starch and neutral lipids. commonly divides into more than two daughter cells by a specific mechanism-multiple fission. Here, we used synchronized cultures of the alga to study the effects of supra-optimal temperature. Synchronized cultures were grown at optimal (30 °C) and supra-optimal (40 °C) temperatures and incident light intensities of 110 and 500 μmol photons m s. The time course of cell reproduction (DNA replication, cellular division), growth (total RNA, protein, cell dry matter, cell size), and synthesis of energy reserves (net starch, neutral lipid) was studied. At 40 °C, cell reproduction was arrested, but growth and accumulation of energy reserves continued; this led to the production of giant cells enriched in protein, starch, and neutral lipids. Furthermore, we examined whether the increased temperature could alleviate the effects of deuterated water on growth and division; results show that supra-optimal temperature can be used in algal biotechnology for the production of protein, (deuterated) starch, and neutral lipids.

Alkaline pectinases are in demand in industrial processes that require the degradation of plant pectins at high pH, for example, removal of pectin stains from fabrics, cutlery, and porcelain; treatment of pectic wastewater; fermentation of coffee, tea, and cocoa; manufacture of poultry and animal feeds, and processing of textiles, and so forth. The present study aimed to (a) screen four alkaliphilic microbial isolates, previously obtained from samples collected around Lake Bogoria (soda lake), Baringo County, Kenya, for alkaline pectinases, and (b) characterize the pectinase-producers. The screening data revealed that all the isolates were pectinase producers, exhibiting catalytic activities that ranged from 1.

The "forage-grain dual-purpose" model helps ease land-use competition and supports high-yield, high-quality rice production. However, integrated strategies to simultaneously improve silage rice and ratoon rice yield and quality across both seasons require further systematic study. A two-year field study (2022-2023) was conducted using two widely cultivated indica hybrid rice cultivars, F You 498 (FY498) and Chuankangyou Simiao (CKYSM), in Southwest China.

Filamentous fungi encode a wide repertoire of antifungal proteins (AFPs) with potential applications for the control of fungal diseases. In this study, we report the simultaneous production of three distinct AFPs by a natural soil isolate of Aspergillus fischeri, including the previously uncharacterized class C protein AfAfpC. AfAfpC was the most abundantly secreted AFP, followed by NFAP2 and, to a lesser extent, NFAP, when grown in YPD medium, whereas AfAfpC was also detected in minimal medium and starch-based formulations.

Fixed-dose combinations have advanced in many therapeutic areas, including otorhinolaryngology, where hearing disorders are increasingly prevalent. The present study focuses on developing and evaluating a new capsule combining nicergoline (NIC), piracetam (PIR), and hawthorn extract (HE) for the management of sensorineural hearing loss. The first phase methodology comprised preformulation studies (DSC, FTIR, and PXRD) to assess compatibility among active substances and excipients.

Objective: This experiment was conducted to determine the apparent ileal digestibility (AID) or standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of crude protein (CP) and amino acids (AA) in 10 rice brans fed to pigs, and to construct predictive models for the SID of CP and AA based on the chemical composition of rice bran.
Methods: Twenty-two healthy [Duroc × (Landrace × Yorkshire)] pigs equipped with ileal T-cannulas (initial body weight: 30 ± 1.5 kg) were selected for this experiment.
