The effect of including triose phosphate utilization (TPU) on parameterization of the Farquhar, von Caemmerer, Berry model of photosynthetic gas exchange measurements is explored. Better fits to data are found even though TPU rarely limits photosynthesis under physiological conditions.

Giardia duodenalis is a gastrointestinal parasite and one of the most frequently reported parasitic infections associated with contaminated water. This study investigated the diversity of domestic and imported Giardia assemblages in Norway, with a focus on the genetic characterization of domestic assemblage A isolates using multi-locus sequence typing (MLST) targeting six genome markers. We analysed 340 human, and 40 animal faecal samples collected between February 2022 and January 2024 from six medical microbiology laboratories and one veterinary diagnostic center across four Norwegian health regions.

Triosephosphate isomerase (TPI) is a ubiquitously expressed enzyme encoded by the TPI1 gene. It catalyzes the interconversion of the triose phosphate isomers dihydroxyacetone phosphate and D-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate in the fifth step of glycolysis. TPI deficiency (TPI Df; MIM# 615512) is an autosomal recessive disorder due to biallelic pathogenic variants in TPI1.

The establishment of the fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda, in Africa is reported to have caused substantial agricultural losses since its detection in 2016 and subsequent spread into Asia and Australia by 2020. Based on the crops being infested, it appears that the population (C strain) primarily responsible for FAW infestations of corn in the Americas is widespread in Africa but there is uncertainty about the status of the R strain that targets pastures, alfalfa, millet, and rice in the United States. The two strains can only physically be distinguished by molecular markers, with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the mitochondrial Cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) and nuclear Z-chromosome-linked Triosephosphate isomerase (Tpi) gene demonstrated to consistently identify strains in both American continents.
