Article Abstract

To isolate licochalcone A (LicoA) from licorice, prepare LicoA-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (L-SLNs) and evaluate the L-SLNs and against . LicoA was obtained by chromatographic fractionation and encapsulated in SLNs by a modified high shear homogenization method. L-SLNs showed high encapsulation efficiency, with satisfactory particle size, polydispersity index and Zeta potential. Transmission electron microscopy revealed that L-SLNs were rounded and homogenously distributed. Toxicity studies revealed that SLNs decreased the hemolytic and cytotoxic properties of LicoA. Treatment with L-SLNs showed efficacy against . L-SLNs are efficient in reducing worm burden and SLNs may be a promising delivery system for LicoA to treat infections.

Changes in waxed dry cheese during the ripening process, over periods of 7 and 30 days, were analysed using near-infrared spectroscopy (FT-NIR) and mid-infrared spectroscopy (FT-MIR) by attenuated total reflection (ATR). FT-NIR was employed to determine the proximate composition of the cheese (protein, fat, moisture, total solids, and salt content), identifying changes directly associated with the ripening process. FT-MIR data were used to identify spectral bands associated with chemical changes occurring during the cheese maturation.

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, Saint Joseph's University, Philadelphia, PA 19104, USA. Electronic address:

The clinical demand for safer, more precise, and functionally versatile imaging tools has intensified with the increasing complexity of disease diagnosis and management. Despite major strides in imaging technologies such as MRI, CT, USG, and PET/SPECT, many modalities are grappled by issues including low specificity, high systemic toxicity of contrast agents, and limited ability to provide real-time functional data. Dreaded by these shortcomings, nanotechnology-based approaches such as liposomes, quantum dots (QDs), polymeric nanoparticles (NPs), gold NPs, lipid NPs, and metallic NPs have emerged as promising alternatives.

This study explored the changes in starch-protein-oil interactions during dough mixing and thermal-treated processes using palm oils with different melting points of 38 °C (PO38), 32 °C (PO32), and 24 °C (PO24), and their impact on roasted products quality. The solid fat content (SFC) of PO38, PO32, and PO24 were 29.35 %, 21.

September 2025

Tianjin Key Laboratory of Animal and Plant Resistance, College of Life Sciences, Tianjin Normal University, Tianjin 300387, China. Electronic address:

The regulation of humic substance formation during aerobic fermentation of organic solid waste has gradually become a research hotspot in related fields. The metabolic byproducts of lignocellulose have the potential to act as precursors for the synthesis of humic substances. This study, grounded in a robust framework of metabolic intermediate indicators, selected representative pure phenolic acid intermediates to conduct condensation experiments.
