A two-step Pd-catalyzed (3 + 2) cycloaddition/HNO elimination reaction sequence has been developed to give novel cyclic 1,3-dien-5-yne systems from Pd-stabilized zwitterionic 1,3-dipoles and 2-nitro-1,3-enyne substrates. The process is highly atom-efficient and tolerates the reaction of 2-vinyloxirane, 1-tosyl-2-vinylaziridine, and diethyl 2-vinylcyclopropane-1,1-dicarboxylate derived 1,3-dipoles with a variety of 2-nitro-1,3-enyne substrates. The stereochemistry of the intermediate (3 + 2) cycloadducts was determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. Furthermore, a selective kinetic elimination of the cycloadduct with an antiperiplanar relationship between the NO group and the participating hydrogen was demonstrated, allowing for efficient isolation of a single diastereoisomer of the cycloadduct.

Background: PPM1D (protein phosphatase Mg⁺/Mn⁺ dependent 1D) is a Ser/Thr phosphatase that negatively regulates p53 and functions as an oncogenic driver. Its gene amplification and overexpression are frequently observed in various malignancies and disruption of PPM1D degradation has also been reported as a cause of cancer progression. However, the precise mechanisms regulating PPM1D stability remain to be elucidated.

Heterostructures have emerged as promising contenders for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) applications. Nevertheless, the construction of a composite SERS substrate with well-matched energy levels persists as a challenge, primarily due to the restricted selection of SERS-active materials. In this study, we successfully synthesized a Ag nanoparticles (NPs)/ZnO nanorods (NRs)/GaN heterojunction featuring type II staggered energy bands, which provides an outstanding platform for efficient SERS detection.

Several approaches for synthesizing [1-C]2-oxoglutaric acid were attempted, and the synthesis was successfully achieved in 4 steps from trimethylsilyl C-cyanide. The C-breath tests on rats were conducted by orally administering the newly synthesized [1-C]2-oxoglutaric acid, the previously prepared [1'-C]citric acid, and [1-C]acetic acid as a control drug, and the results were compared. The results indicate that [1-C]2-oxoglutaric acid and [1'-C]citric acid may serve as potential substrates for assessing the TCA cycle flux.

Human identification and its involved science are present in the daily context of legal medicine, criminal justice, and humanitarian issues. The development of a mirror delamination method for fingermark enhancement on silver mirror substrates has resulted in an affordable and efficient alternative to obtain good-quality fingermark images for forensic investigations. However, efficiency and sensitivity comparisons between the novel method and established techniques are necessary to understand the limiting factors and practical applications.
