Objectives: To propose a framework for considering SARS-CoV-2 antigen testing of unexposed asymptomatic workers in selected workplaces.
Methods: This is a commentary based on established occupational safety and health principles, published articles, and other pertinent literature, including non-peer-reviewed preprints in medrixiv.org prior to April 16, 2021.
Results: Not applicable to this commentary/viewpoint article.
Conclusion: Antigen testing is a rapidly evolving and useful public health tool that can be used to guide measures to reduce spread of SARS-CoV-2 in the community and in selected workplaces. This commentary provides a proposed framework for occupational safety and health practitioners and employers for considering antigen testing as a method to screen asymptomatic workers in selected non-healthcare settings. When applied selectively, antigen testing can be a useful, effective part of a comprehensive workplace program for COVID-19 prevention and control.

Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a commonly used tumor marker, primarily for the surveillance of colorectal and other gastrointestinal malignancies. However, its diagnostic specificity is limited, as CEA levels may be elevated in several benign conditions. This case report aims to highlight the potential diagnostic confusion and psychological distress caused by incidental CEA elevation in asymptomatic individuals when tested outside of an appropriate clinical context.

Background: Protein-polysaccharide conjugate vaccines rely on the induction of T-cell-dependent responses that support germinal center (GC) reactions to potentiate the expansion of antigen-specific memory B-cell (MBC) populations and high-avidity antibody responses. The effects of adjuvants on B-cell and antibody responses are well described for protein antigens but remain largely unexplored for conjugated polysaccharidic antigens.

Introduction: Vaccination against COVID-19 has generated a dramatic reduction in deaths and infections worldwide. However, there may be cross-reactivity with numerous biochemical and immunological markers. The Widal test for the detection of typhoid fever is an antigen-antibody test that can be affected by vaccination, causing errors in the results, so we determined the frequency of false positive results of the Widal test in adults vaccinated with Commirnaty (Pfizer -BioNtech) and BBIBP-CorV (Sinopharm) vaccines.
