A tunable fiber polarizer based on the selectively silver-coated large-core suspended-core fiber (LSCF) was proposed. A thin silver layer was coated on the inner surface of two opposite air holes of the LSCF by the chemical liquid-phase deposition method. The $y$-polarized light (parallel to the two silver-coated air holes) will excite surface plasmon resonance and experience large transmission loss, while the $x$-polarized light does not, resulting in a fiber polarizer. By varying the liquid filled in the microchannels of the LSCF, the operating wavelength can be tuned in the visible and near infrared region along with the surface plasmon resonance wavelength. The dependence of the polarization characteristics on the fiber length was experimentally investigated. The maximum polarization extinction ratio (PER) of 20.1 dB, 19.6 dB, and 18.3 dB and insertion loss (IL) of 2.24 dB, 2.56 dB, and 2.08 dB are achieved with the optimal fiber length of 16 cm at the operating wavelengths of 565.4 nm, 626.7 nm, and 739.7 nm, respectively. Compared with the multimode fiber-based polarizers reported previously, the proposed selectively silver-coated LSCF polarizer exhibits higher PER and lower IL.

The binary composites of liquid () and crystalline () difluoroboron β-diketonate (BFdbk) complexes exhibited a metastable nature arising from the intricate interplay between their liquid and crystalline components in bulk. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements indicate nearly complete miscibility of and when the fractional volume of occupied a substantial portion, corresponding to below 47 mol % of the content. In contrast, polarized optical microscopic (POM) observations unveiled that the / composites between two glass slides crystallized regardless of the content.

Achieving high capacitance while maintaining rapid charge transport and structural stability remains a major challenge in the design of battery-type supercapacitor electrodes. Herein, a molecularly engineered strategy is presented for constructing hierarchical hybrid electrodes by integrating petal-like NiCu-LDH nanosheets onto 3D HBC-x (x = H, F, OMe)-functionalized CNT paper via a one-step hydrothermal process. The incorporation of HBC effectively mitigates CNT agglomeration and constructs an interconnected conductive framework that enhances charge transport, shortens ion diffusion paths, and reduces internal resistance.

Cycloaliphatic epoxy resin (CEP) is a promising candidate for rigid housings in high-voltage composite insulators due to its superior hardness, water resistance, and interfacial adhesion compared with conventional high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (HTV-SR). However, the long-term insulation degradation mechanisms of CEP under corona discharge are still not fully understood. In this study, CEP, HTV-SR, and glass fiber-reinforced epoxy (GFRP) were subjected to AC corona aging using a multi-needle plate electrode.

Unlabelled: Disuse muscle atrophy (DMA) is characterized by progressive loss of muscle mass and strength, often accompanied by inflammation and macrophage imbalance. Here, we introduce hydrogenated silicene nanosheets (H-silicene) as a novel nanotherapeutic strategy to mitigate DMA through modulating macrophage polarization. H-silicene exhibited good biocompatibility and sustained hydrogen release.

Dome-shaped macula (DSM) is a distinctive anatomical entity characterized by an inward convexity of the macula, initially described in highly myopic eyes within posterior staphyloma, but it is now recognized as occurring across a broader spectrum of refractive conditions, including mild myopia and even emmetropia. Since its initial description in 2008, advances in imaging technologies and longitudinal studies have significantly improved our understanding of DSM. This review analyzed the recent literature, focusing on publications from the last 10 years.
