The identification and surgical closure of apical complex muscular ventricular septal defects remains a difficult problem because of their location in the ventricular septum distal to the moderating band. Three-dimensional reconstruction can help the surgeon to better understand the location and structure of congenital cardiac defects. We report the case of a child with multiple apical complex muscular ventricular septal defects closed through a hybrid approach with the aid of a 3-dimensional printed model.

The reduction in clinical rotation hours, particularly in high-demand pediatric subspecialties such as Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) and Pediatric Emergency Rooms (ER), has highlighted the need for innovative approaches to enhance pediatric residency education. A 2019 survey of Italian pediatric residency programs revealed that most residents receive fewer than five hours of simulation-based training annually, with 66% participating in no simulation activities. Additionally, pediatric ER rotation hours have seen significant reductions-daytime rotations decreased by 29%, while nighttime rotations were reduced by 60% over the past four years at the University of Genoa.

Introduction: There are limited studies on the long-term effects of COVID-19 on skeletal muscle morphology and architecture. Therefore, this study aims to address this gap by assessing the effects of prior COVID-19 infection on quadriceps muscle architecture and tendon-aponeurosis complex (TAC) properties over a one-year period, comparing three cohorts: individuals with moderate COVID-19, individuals with severe COVID-19, and a healthy control group.
Methods: Seventy participants were included in the study and allocated to three groups: moderate COVID-19 (n = 22), severe COVID-19 (n = 18), and control (n = 30).

Despite advances in genomic diagnostics, the majority of individuals with rare diseases remain without a confirmed genetic diagnosis. The rapid emergence of advanced omics technologies, such as long-read genome sequencing, optical genome mapping and multiomic profiling, has improved diagnostic yield but also substantially increased analytical and interpretational complexity. Addressing this complexity requires systematic multidisciplinary collaboration, as recently demonstrated by targeted diagnostic workshops.

Few drugs are available for rare diseases due to economic disincentives. However, tailored medications for extremely-rare disorders (N-of-1) offer a ray of hope. Artificial antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) are now best known for their use in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

Background And Aims: Ablation for premature ventricular complexes (PVCs) originating from the right ventricular inflow tract (RVIT) is challenging. Few studies have identified the correlation between right ventricular false tendons (RVFTs) and RVIT PVCs. This study aimed to verify RVFTs as arrhythmogenic and electro-anatomical substrates for PVCs, and propose an enlightening mapping and ablation protocol to improve operative efficacy.
