A novel density-tunable liquid-phase microextraction (DT-LPME) system was developed with high-density deep eutectic solvents (DESs) as extractant and low-density organic solvents as emulsifier and density regulator. DES-rich phase was induced to form in the bottom or in the top by adjusting the emulsifier amount. This system was used to directly extract polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from liquid and solid foods, and the obtained DES-rich phase was easy to be collected for quantification. The method (LPME with HPLC-fluorescence detector) has linearity (R > 0.9974), detection limits of 0.6-4.2 ng L for liquid foods and 0.05-0.35 ng g for solid foods, recoveries of 86.2-114.9%, and intra-day/inter-day RSDs below 6.6%. The method was applied to detect PAHs in real samples, and the PAHs residue was found in honey and five solid foods. The DT-LPME method is simple, fast, green and suitable for direct extraction of analytes from both liquid and solid samples.

In pig production, weaning is a critical period where piglets face several environmental stressors. This transition leads to a significant growth reduction and can result in digestive disorders, including diarrhea. To formulate a feed that meets zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) requirements during the weaning period while minimizing their release into the environment, it became evident that a more bioavailable micro-mineral supplement is necessary.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major global health issue, ranking as the sixth most common cancer and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Risk factors for HCC include chronic hepatitis B and C, obesity, alcohol abuse, diabetes, and metabolic disorders. Current treatments, such as surgery, transplantation, and chemotherapy, are often ineffective in advanced stages due to tumor resistance and the inability to target key oncogenic pathways.

Background and objectives Esophageal motility disorders (EMDs) are a major cause of non‑obstructive dysphagia. However, regional data from eastern India are limited. This study aims to describe the spectrum of EMDs in patients with non‑obstructive dysphagia using high‑resolution manometry (HRM) at a tertiary care center in eastern India, and to compare clinical symptoms, and endoscopic and barium findings in patients with achalasia versus non‑achalasia.

This study examined quality changes in () stingless bee honey subjected to thermal treatment and stored at room temperature. Honey was heated at 55, 75, and 90 °C for 10 or 20 min and then stored at 30 °C for 40 days. Physicochemical parameters including moisture content, total soluble solids (TSS), pH, acidity, viscosity, hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF), color (L*, a*, b*), antioxidant activity, and total phenolic content were analyzed.

The production process of , a filamentous fungus of dairy interest, involves transition from a solid to a liquid medium, allowing acquisition of a sufficient quantity of spores for transfer to a bioreactor. This step is hardly referenced whereas its impact on growth can be substantial. The aim of this study was to define the best condition for spore production on solid medium that maximizes the quality of produced spores for the transition to liquid medium.
