Vibrio infections cause enteritis in grouper fish, leading to high mortality and stunted growth, which is a major challenge for aquaculture. Oligochitosans, marine prebiotics with bioactive properties, have proven their potential for growth promotion and immune regulation. However, the impacts of Vibrio harveyi on the gut microbiome of grouper fish and the potential of oligochitosans to modulate these effects remain poorly understood.

The decontamination of chemical warfare agents or compounds involved in chemical industry incidents poses a significant challenge to environmental protection and human health. These compounds are highly toxic and could be relatively resistant to conventional decontamination methods. In recent years, surfactants have emerged as a promising option, as they can enhance the solubility of organophosphorus compounds in aqueous solutions while promoting their degradation or adsorption onto surfaces.

Microplastics are ubiquitous in the environment, accumulate hydrophobic organic contaminants, and suppress the photodegradative loss of these contaminants. Thus, they have the potential to act as vectors for contaminant uptake by organisms and transport to remote regions. Our current understanding of microplastic-sorbed contaminant photodegradation is drawn from experiments with unpigmented microplastics, but the interaction of pigments with light may alter the loss and corresponding persistence of sorbed contaminants.

Pneumatic booms offer distinct advantages over traditional structural barriers: not affecting the local vessel navigation and hydrological environment, enhanced mobility and maneuverability, etc. However, their oil interception performance remains insufficiently understood especially for the area-source ones. This study employs a well-validated numerical model based on the coupled VOF and DPM framework, to systematically investigate the plume evolution and oil containment efficiency of near-surface area-source bubble curtains under various aquatic scenarios.
