This study aims to measure the indoor radon concentration (IRC) of 56 radiation areas at 34 medical institutions to assess their adequacy as required by the South Korean Ministry of Environment and international standards, and calculate the annual effective dose (AED) of individuals in radiation-related professions at each medical institution. The study was conducted for 9 months and the AED was calculated according to the South Korean Nuclear Safety and Security Commission's equation. The environmental factors that can affect IRC were analyzed by medical institution, floor level, province and ventilation system. The IRC of eight radiation areas exceeded the recommendation of the International Commission on Radiological Protection, with max-AED and min-AED showing a difference of 1.42 mSv/y. Therefore, all radiation areas that exceed the recommended limits must set up preventative measures to minimize exposure. Furthermore, a systematic management plan involving the issuance of radon test reports is required.

Background: Free flap transfer is an essential technique for head and neck reconstruction after oncological ablative resection. Selection of recipient vessels can be challenging in patients with a history of neck dissection and/or radiotherapy. We analyzed outcomes with regard to recipient vessel selection and flap failure, referring to patients' histories of radiotherapy and/or neck dissection.

In the recent years, the clinical stage where the cancer has spread beyond the primary site, but has not yet metastasised extensively, and which is known as oligometastatic disease (OMD), has become an object of interest to radiation oncologists. OMD is a kind of an "umbrella term" for a variety of clinical situations. This review focuses on the role of radiotherapy (RT) in the treatment of oligometastatic non-small cell lung cancer (OM-NSCLC).

At Semipalatinsk nuclear test site (SNTS), nuclear weapons tests lasted from 1949 to 1989, with a total of 468 nuclear weapons explosions (including 117 air and ground tests) being conducted. The aim of our study is to evaluate trends in the field of conducted research on the assessment of the health status of the population of Kazakhstan exposed to radiation as a result of nuclear weapons testing at the STNS, as well as the contribution of various countries, institutions, journals and authors to these studies. Research methods included: formulating research questions; selecting databases to search for the information of interest; collecting information on publications; selecting a program to conduct bibliometric analysis; creating maps according to research questions; analyzing bibliometric data.

Objectives: Unruptured brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) typically do not cause aphasia, even when the traditional language areas are affected by the nidus. We attempted to elucidate its language reorganization mechanism by analyzing the alterations in functional connectivity using functional connectivity (FC) and track-weighted static functional connectivity (TW-sFC) approaches.
Methods: This cross-sectional study prospectively enrolled patients with AVMs involving left-hemisphere language areas and healthy controls.
