A comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing the epidemiological dynamics of COVID-19 across the pandemic waves-particularly in terms of disease severity and mortality-is critical for optimizing healthcare services and prioritizing high-risk populations. Here we aim to analyze the factors associated with short-term and prolonged hospitalization for COVID-19 during the first three pandemic waves. We conducted a retrospective observational study using data from individuals reported in the e-SUS-VS system who were hospitalized for COVID-19 in a state in a southeast state of Brazil.

Concerns over the mental health among young people have been increasing recently. We aimed to estimate the burdens of mental disorders, substance use disorders (SUDs), and self-harm at global, regional and national levels among adolescents and young adults aged 10-24 years from 1990 to 2021. Incidence, prevalence, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of mental disorders, SUDs, and self-harm among young people were examined by age, sex, region, and country/territory.

The COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in India, continues to pose a major threat to public health owing to the large number of patients that remain affected. The second wave of COVID-19 has brought with it several opportunistic diseases caused by bacteria and fungi, including mucormycosis, which is a well-known fungal infection primarily encountered in immunocompromised individuals through inhalation. In recent times, mucormycosis has become increasingly common in COVID-19 patients, particularly those with comorbidities such as diabetes, and has been observed to induce secondary infections as it spreads with COVID-19 treatment.

Objectives: This study compared the diagnostic accuracy of seven different commercial serological assays for COVID-19, using RT-PCR as the gold standard, through meta-analysis and indirect comparison.
Methods: Fifty-seven studies, published from November 2019 to June 2024, were included. The diagnostic performance of IgA, IgG, and total antibody assays for SARS-CoV-2 was assessed.

Objective: Multiple studies have confirmed that viral pneumonia is a high-risk factor for invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA), this retrospective study aims to analyze the differences in clinical characteristics, prognosis, and high-risk factors for mortality between patients with influenza virus-associated pulmonary aspergillosis (IAPA) and those with COVID-19-associated pulmonary aspergillosis (CAPA).
Methods: Clinical data from IAPA and CAPA patients diagnosed at four hospitals were collected. The clinical characteristics and prognostic differences between the two groups were analyzed and compared, with Cox regression used to identify the risk factors for mortality.
