Article Abstract

Visible light communication has received great attention as the superior candidate for radio frequency communication in indoor scenarios, but research on how the location of light-emitting diode lamps affects the achievable rate is rare. In this Letter, the lamp location is optimized with the Adam algorithm for maximization of the average achievable rate, and the Monte Carlo method based on sub-sampling is proposed to reduce the computational complexity of both the achievable rate calculation and optimization process. Moreover, the relationship between room sizes and numbers of lamps is investigated, while the optimal distributions of lamp locations are also illustrated.

Salmonella Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) is one of the most common food-borne diseases, highlighted as the top food-borne bacterial pathogen in the world with a low infectious dose (1 CFU) and high mortality rate. It is commonly associated with numerous foods such as dairy products, protein sources (multiple types of meat, poultry, and eggs), and bakery products.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Meşelik Campus, Büyükdere Neighborhood, Prof. Dr. Nabi Avcı Boulevard No:4, Odunpazarı, Eskişehir, 26040, Turkey.

Objectives: The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of artificial intelligence-assisted segmentation methods in detecting carotid artery calcification (CAC) in panoramic radiographs and to compare the performance of different YOLO models: YOLOv5x-seg, YOLOv8x-seg, and YOLOv11x-seg. Additionally, the study aims to investigate the association between patient gender and the presence of CAC, as part of a broader epidemiological analysis.

Methods: In this study, 30,883 panoramic radiographs were scanned.

Large language models (LLMs) have been successfully used for data extraction from free-text radiology reports. Most current studies were conducted with LLMs accessed via an application programming interface (API). We evaluated the feasibility of using open-source LLMs, deployed on limited local hardware resources for data extraction from free-text mammography reports, using a common data element (CDE)-based structure.

Objective: Reduction of bleeding and prolonged air leak (>5 days) following major lung resection remains a challenge. Hemostasis and aerostasis devices can facilitate earlier pleural de-drainage and fast-track. Our objectives were to evaluate the efficacy of TenaTac (an elastic, adhering patch approved as a medical device) in reducing bleeding and prolonged air leak after major lung resection.
