Article Abstract

Background: Quality control in cytology must be established through reliable and easily measurable indicators.

Methods: From the Catalan Society of Cytopathology a group of experts has been established to write a document with 13 indicators that cover the entire cytological process, based on its Cytopathology Quality Guide. It has been elaborated through guides and documents with scientific evidence and DELPHI methodology in order to reach a structured consensus on the opinions of a group of experts.

Results: Thirteen indicators, covering all the cytologic process are expressed in worksheets specifying all their characteristics.

Conclusion: This document allows the control of all stages of the cytological process.

Obesity has been associated with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), but the evidence is inconclusive. We examined the association between genetically determined adiposity and four common NHL subtypes: diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), follicular lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and marginal zone lymphoma, using eight genome-wide association studies of European ancestry (N = 10,629 cases, 9505 controls) and constructing polygenic scores for body mass index (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), and waist-to-hip ratio adjusted for BMI (WHRadjBMI). Higher genetically determined BMI was associated with an increased risk of DLBCL [odds ratio (OR) per standard deviation (SD) = 1.

: Vascular risk factors (VRFs) are known to influence cerebral small vessel disease (cSVD) burden and progression. However, their specific impact on the presence and distribution of each cSVD imaging marker (white matter hyperintensity [WMH], perivascular spaces [PVSs], lacunes, and cerebral microbleeds [CMBs]) and their spatial distribution remains unclear. : We conducted a retrospective analysis of 93 patients with lacunar stroke with a standardized investigational magnetic resonance imaging protocol using a 3T scanner.
