Background: The need for renal replacement therapy (RRT) is an uncommon but severe complication following post-cardiac surgery AKI, however there is limited data on the incidence of renal recovery. This study evaluates the rate of renal recovery in cardiac surgery patients that require postoperative RRT and survive to discharge, and describes the clinical factors associated with higher rates of recovery.
Methods: All adult patients without preoperative dialysis, heart transplantation, or durable left ventricular assist device who required new onset postoperative RRT after cardiac surgery from 2011-2022 at a high-volume referral center were included.

Background: Although splenomegaly is a common finding in Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection, splenic infarction is rarely reported and may be under-recognised, especially in adults. Neurological complications such as aseptic meningitis are also uncommon but documented. The simultaneous occurrence of both complications in the context of primary EBV infection is exceptional.

Intussusception is an uncommon cause of intestinal obstruction in adults and rarely encountered during pregnancy. Duodenal intussusception is particularly rare due to the fixed position of the duodenum. We report a unique case of duodenojejunal intussusception in a pregnant woman at 28 weeks of gestation, who presented with symptoms mimicking acute pancreatitis complicated by biliary tract obstruction.

Isolated ectopic secretion of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) is an exceedingly rare cause of Cushing's syndrome (CS), accounting for fewer than 1% of cases. Ectopic CS is an uncommon but potentially life-threatening condition that often necessitates urgent diagnostic evaluation and treatment. Hormonal testing may suggest a pituitary origin, complicating the diagnostic process.

Pharyngeal myoclonus is a rare movement disorder characterized by rhythmic pharyngeal contractions, typically reported in adults with neurological lesions and rarely in children. We report a seven-year-old girl who experienced involuntary clicking sounds localized to the right ear. Nasopharyngoscopy revealed pharyngeal myoclonus without structural abnormalities, and brain and laryngeal MRI were unremarkable.
