Host - microbiome interactions are central to Crohn'sdisease (CD) pathogenesis; yet the early metabolic alterations that precededisease onset remain poorly defined. To explore preclinical metabolicsignatures of CD, we analyzed baseline serum metabolomic profiles in a nestedcase-control study within the Crohn's and Colitis Canada - Genetics, Environment, Microbiome (CCC-GEM) Project, a prospective cohort of 5,122 healthyfirst-degree relatives (FDRs) of CD patients. We included 78 individuals wholater developed CD and 311 matched FDRs who remained disease-free.

Hypothyroidism encompasses both autoimmune forms, notably Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT), and nonimmune hypothyroidism (NIHT), each driven by distinct molecular mechanisms. Despite overlapping clinical features, their specific molecular differences remain underexplored. This study aimed to compare the expression of inflammatory biomarkers (Calprotectin, Cyclophilin A, Endocan, Procalcitonin) and microRNAs (miR-223, miR-711) among HT, NIHT, and healthy individuals, evaluating their diagnostic relevance.

Background: Eosinophilic gastrointestinal (GI) disease (EGID) beyond eosinophilic esophagitis is not commonly reported in the developing world.
Aim: To estimate the prevalence of EGID in a selected group of pediatric patients suffering from non-functional chronic abdominal pain (CAP).
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on case records of children with CAP.

Background And Aim: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are chronic conditions that affect the gastrointestinal tract. The chronic inflammatory state promotes a catabolic environment that contributes to undernutrition, while mucosal damage often impairs nutrient absorption. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between nutritional status-including micronutrient deficiencies-and clinical as well as laboratoristics disease activity in a cohort of patients with IBD.

Background: Modulation of intestinal barrier, which function through zonulin pathway downregulation, represents a promising therapeutic strategy for chronic diseases. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effects of prebiotic dietary fibers, probiotics, and synbiotics on intestinal permeability and immunity.
Methods: A systematic literature search of the EMBASE, PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus electronic databases was conducted from database inception up to May 2024, supplemented by manual reference list searches.
