Article Abstract

Here, we present two high-quality, draft metagenome-assembled genomes of deltaproteobacterial OalgDelta3 endosymbionts from the gutless marine worm Their 16S rRNA gene sequences share 98% identity with Delta3 endosymbionts of related host species (GenBank accession no. AJ620501) and (GenBank accession no. FM202060), for which no symbiont genomes are available.

The wrentit (Chamaea fasciata) is a chaparral and scrub specialist bird found from coastal Oregon to northern Baja California. We generated a draft reference assembly for the species using PacBio HiFi long read and Omni-C chromatin-proximity sequencing data as part of the California Conservation Genomics Project (CCGP). Sequenced reads were assembled into 1342 scaffolds totaling 1.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is an X-linked recessive myopathy caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene, which is divided into presymptomatic, early ambulatory, late ambulatory, early non-ambulatory, and late non-ambulatory stages according to its disease progression. Some patients experience non-progressive cognitive developmental delays in the presymptomatic stage. DMD patients gradually develop osteoporosis, cardiomyopathy, decreased respiratory function, delayed puberty, and gastrointestinal symptoms as the disease progresses.

Background: Clinical quality registries (CQRs) systematically monitor the quality of healthcare by routinely collecting and reporting health-related information. The collection of patient reported measures (PRMs) by CQRs provides a personal perspective on the expectations and impacts of treatment. Reporting of CQR-collected PRMs for quality improvement (QI) is highly variable.

People with dementia (PWD) are frequently exposed to polypharmacy and potentially inappropriate medication use, in which the risks of medication use outweigh the benefits or the medication is not aligned with treatment goals. Appropriate deprescribing of unnecessary or potentially inappropriate medications is essential to high-quality care for PWD, to avoid iatrogenic harm and improve health and well-being for patients and their care partners. In this article, we review the risks of polypharmacy in PWD and evidence for the safety and efficacy of deprescribing in this population.

Introduction: Wounds and skin conditions are common in residential aged care settings and can result in significant physical, psychosocial and economic impacts on residents and care systems. Ensuring high-quality evidence-based wound and skin care in residential aged care facilities is essential to promote resident well-being. However, the integration of such practices is a complex knowledge translation endeavour, influenced by contextual challenges.
