To date, environmental conditions have been enough to act as an effective barrier to prevent non-indigenous species from arriving and establishing in Arctic Canada. However, rapidly changing climatic conditions are creating more suitable habitats for non-indigenous species to potentially establish and become invasive. Concurrently, shipping traffic in parts of Arctic Canada has increased by over 250% since 1990, providing an effective vector for transporting non-indigenous species to the region.

Introduction Oxygen is a routinely administered, yet prescription-only therapy in hospital settings. Inappropriate prescribing can result in significant harm, particularly in patients at risk of type 2 respiratory failure. This audit aimed to evaluate adherence to guidelines on oxygen prescribing during admission clerking in the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU) of Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, a UK tertiary care hospital.

Background: It is unknown whether there is an association between initial serum potassium level and short-term survival in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survivors. The aim of this study was to describe potential associations between first recorded potassium level and 30-day survival in patients surviving OHCA.
Methods: We identified 4,894 patients who had return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) at hospital arrival, and a registered post-OHCA serum-potassium value, using Danish nationwide registry data from 2001-2019.

Introduction: Hospital attendances due to respiratory infection peak in winter, contributing to pressures within acute services. We assessed the prevalence of suspected respiratory infection within acute medical admissions during winter and evaluated performance against recommendations for initial assessment.
Methods: Data were collected through the Society for Acute Medicine (SAM) Benchmarking Audit, comprising a hospital-level survey and 24-hour patient-level data collection for unplanned acute medical attendances on 22 February 2024.

Objective: To systematically review the evidence on, to devise clinical recommendations for, and to identify critical knowledge gaps in resuscitation of newborn puppies and kittens.
Design: Standardized, systematic evaluation of literature pertinent to newborn resuscitation following Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology. Prioritized questions were reviewed by Evidence Evaluators, and findings were reconciled by Domain Chairs and Reassessment Campaign on Veterinary Resuscitation (RECOVER) Co-Chairs to arrive at treatment recommendations commensurate with the quality of evidence, risk-benefit relationship, and clinical feasibility.
