Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the CGuard dual-layer stent with its mesh embolic protection system (EPS) in elective cases for treatment of internal carotid artery stenosis and compares it to the Carotid Wallstent as benchmark.
Methods: In this retrospective, multicenter study, we analyzed data from consecutive patients who underwent carotid artery stenting with CGuard at two high-volume neurointerventional centers and compared them with prior consecutive patients treated with Carotid Wallstent (CWS), with and without a balloon guiding catheter (BGC) as protection, at the same institutions. Patient demographics, procedural details, clinical complications, early in-stent thrombosis and occlusion rates, and late follow-up restenosis rates were assessed.

Background: Repair strategies for pediatric vascular injuries must consider vascular growth and intervention durability. Endovascular interventions are increasingly utilized in pediatrics, particularly in unstable patients or for injuries in surgically morbid regions. This study describes a single-center experience with endovascular stenting in adolescent pediatric trauma.

First-generation drug-eluting stents (DES) with thick polymers may contribute to local vascular inflammation and late stent thrombosis. Thinner-strut DES, particularly those with biodegradable polymers and ultrathin struts, aim to reduce this risk by minimizing flow disturbance and vascular injury. Nonetheless, the long-term safety and efficacy of ultrathin biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting stents (BP-SES) compared to durable polymer everolimus-eluting stents (DP-EES) are still uncertain.

CT angiography (CTA) of the aortoiliofemoral (AIF) arteries in the abdomen, pelvis, and lower extremities has become an invaluable tool in assessment of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and lower extremity trauma. AIF CTA provides rapid and comprehensive assessment of arterial inflow and outflow, guiding management of patients with chronic claudication and those with more acute manifestations, including atherothrombotic occlusion, embolic disease, or thrombosis of prior interventions such as bypass graft or stent placement. Careful attention to technique is critical in performing diagnostic AIF CTA, as pitfalls related to imaging too early or too late relative to the arrival of contrast material in the legs can lead to misdiagnosis or diagnostic uncertainty.
