This is a commentary on Brookshire et al. 26, 5404-5413 For the Northern Great Plains, Brookshire, Stoy, Currey, and Finney (Global Change Biology, 2020) analyze satellite-based reconstructions of greenness and foliar nutrition and isotopic composition from herbarium samples. Their results of greater productivity coupled with reduced N availability are part of an inflection in our understanding of the global N cycle as much of the terrestrial biosphere appears to be experiencing reduced N availability.

Introduction: Dysfunction of the glymphatic system is thought to lead to build up of toxic proteins including β-amyloid and α-synuclein, and thus may be involved in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Alzheimer's disease (AD). The Diffusion Tensor Image Analysis Along the Perivascular Space (DTI-ALPS) index has been proposed as a marker of glymphatic function.
Aims: To investigate DTI-ALPS in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia, and determine its relationship with cognitive decline, and biomarkers of neurodegeneration.

Background: Delayed discharge among older patients presents a major challenge for the efficiency of health service delivery. Prolonged hospitalizations limit bed turnover, increase costs, and reduce the availability of hospital resources. In Japan, older adults must undergo a formal care needs certification process to access public long-term care (LTC) services.

Cervical cancer remains a significant cause of female mortality worldwide, primarily due to abnormal cell growth in the cervix. This study proposes an automated classification method to enhance detection accuracy and efficiency, addressing contrast and noise issues in traditional diagnostic approaches. The impact of image enhancement on classification performance is evaluated by comparing transfer learning-based Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models trained on both original and enhanced images.

Electrolytes are important components in lithium-ion batteries. However, battery degradation due to irreversible electrochemical reactions in the electrolyte can consume electrolyte molecules and severely reduce its effective operation lifetime. It is hence important to study the electrochemical reaction pathways in the battery electrolyte to further improve lithium-ion battery reliability.

Artificial intelligence (AI) based anticancer drug recommendation systems have emerged as powerful tools for precision dosing. Although existing methods have advanced in terms of predictive accuracy, they encounter three significant obstacles, including the "black-box" problem resulting in unexplainable reasoning, the computational difficulty for graphbased structures, and the combinatorial explosion during multistep reasoning. To tackle these issues, we introduce a novel Macro-Micro agent Drug sensitivity inference (MarMirDrug).
