In this brief review, we present evidence of the primary role of learning-associated plasticity in the development of either adaptive or maladaptive coping strategies. Successful interactions with novel stressors foster plasticity within the neural circuits supporting acquisition, consolidation, retrieval, and extinction of instrumental learning leading to development of a rich repertoire of flexible and context-specific adaptive coping responses, whereas prolonged or repeated exposure to inescapable/uncontrollable stressors fosters dysfunctional plasticity within the learning circuits leading to perseverant and inflexible maladaptive coping strategies. Finally, the results collected using an animal model of genotype-specific coping styles indicate the engagement of different molecular networks and the opposite direction of stress effects (reduced vs. enhanced gene expression) in stressed animals, as well as different behavioral alterations, in line with differences in the symptoms profile associated with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Objective: Although traditionally associated with mild head trauma, post-concussive symptoms are commonly reported across both healthy and other clinical populations. Existing research indicates that individuals with depression report high levels of post-concussive symptoms, though the underlying causes of this association remain unknown. The current study aimed to explore potential factors underlying this relationship: specifically, how maladaptive and adaptive self-focused cognitive coping styles, namely, rumination and reflection, respectively, differentially contribute to post-concussive symptoms.

Background: Effective coping is indispensable for negotiating the challenges of medical college. Numerous factors affect the choice and usefulness of coping strategies, and personality holds considerable significance among these.
Aim: We planned the present study to investigate coping-personality relationships in medical students, identify common coping strategies used, and study the influence of demographic factors on coping.

Water scarcity is intensifying under climate change, threatening food security, rural livelihoods, and social stability in semi-arid regions worldwide. Small-scale water storage infrastructure, such as community dams, is increasingly promoted as a climate adaptation measure, yet rigorous evidence on their multidimensional impacts remains limited. This study evaluates Ghana's state-led One-Village-One-Dam (1V1D) program using Welfare Economics and Technology Substitution theories and a Multivariate Probit Model applied to data from 219 agro-pastoralist households in Northern Ghana.

This study explored the relationships between dissociative experiences, childhood trauma, maladaptive schemas, schema modes, and schema coping in a nonclinical sample. Three theoretical models were tested: (1) dissociative experiences resulting from schema mode activation, (2) dissociative experiences as an innate trait shaping schema coping, and (3) dissociative experiences arising from childhood trauma that influence coping strategies. Data from 401 Dutch psychology students were analyzed using path analyses to compare model fit.
