Article Abstract

: Difficulty applying cognitive strategies during task performance is a hallmark feature of brain injury. This study aimed to develop a cognitive strategy profile of people living in a transitional living unit for people with brain injury.: Prospective, longitudinal study (n = 16): Cognitive strategy application was assessed using the Perceive, Recall, Plan, and Perform (PRPP) System of Task Analysis. Functional measures were also administered. Data were examined using Rasch analysis (FACETS 3.71.4) and relationships between variables were analyzed.: Rasch analysis of PRPP data generated a hierarchy of cognitive strategies: from the most complex executive processing strategies to the simplest perceptual and recall strategies. The functional profile revealed a more impaired group of clients than has been previously reported in similar residential programs. Cognitive strategy use (PRPP Total score) was correlated with functional independence (r = .61), the performance of instrumental activities of daily living (r = .45), and community participation (r = -.63).: The PRPP System enabled assessment of cognitive strategy difficulties and generation of individual profiles that allowed for individualized intervention planning. More efficient and effective application of cognitive strategies was related to the improved functional performance of everyday tasks and activities, greater independence and community participation.

Objective: To clarify the potential risks and causative mechanisms of glare from nighttime road fill lights on driving safety, this study investigates the dual interference of glare-induced visual cognitive load and physiological stress.

Methods: A field driving experiment involving 20 drivers was conducted, with real-time collection of visual data (e.g.

Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) enable direct communication between the brain and computers. However, their long-term functionality remains limited due to signal degradation caused by acute insertion trauma, chronic foreign body reaction (FBR), and biofouling at the device-tissue interface. To address these challenges, we introduce a multifunctional surface modification strategy called targeting-specific interaction and blocking nonspecific adhesion (TAB) coating for flexible fiber, achieving a synergistic integration of mechanical compliance and biochemical stability.

Cooking plays a crucial role in healthy eating, and food exposure during cooking significantly influences people's health and well-being. Given the challenges faced by novice cooks and the general lack of interest in cooking, this research proposes utilizing a highly engaging cooking game as an alternative to real-life cooking, allowing individuals to achieve the same health-boosting benefits as traditional cooking while enjoying the game. Additionally, this study will examine the moderating role of food type and cooking manner in this process.

BackgroundAlzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disorder. While AD diagnosis traditionally relies on clinical criteria, recent trends favor a precise biological definition. Existing biomarkers efficiently detect AD pathology but inadequately reflect the extent of cognitive impairment or disease heterogeneity.

Importance: Cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug, with 10% to 30% of regular users developing cannabis use disorder (CUD), a condition linked to altered hippocampal integrity. Evidence suggests high-intensity interval training (HIIT) enhances hippocampal structure and function, with this form of physical exercise potentially mitigating CUD-related cognitive and mental health impairments.

Objective: To determine the impact of a 12-week HIIT intervention on hippocampal integrity (ie, structure, connectivity, biochemistry) compared with 12 weeks of strength and resistance (SR) training in CUD.
