Article Abstract

Background: In past magnetic resonance imaging studies, normal participants and schizophrenia patients have usually been compared using imaging processing modes with only one parameter. A more extensive evaluation of significant differences between gray and white matter in Schizophrenic patents was necessary.

Methods: Voxel based morphometry was used to separate brain images into gray matter and white matter. Then, the images were mapped to Montreal Neurological Institute space, and DARTEL analytic template was applied for image calibration with statistical parametric mapping. Finally, joint independent component analysis was employed to analyze the gray and white matter of brain images from Schizophrenic patients and normal controls. In this study, joint independent component analysis was used to discriminate clinical differences in magnetic resonance imaging signals between Schizophrenic patients and normal controls.

Results: Region of interest analyses has repeatedly shown gray matter reduction in the superior temporal gyrus of Schizophrenic patients.

Conclusion: These results strongly support previous studies regarding brain volume in schizophrenic patients. The connection networks in frontal and temporal lobes evidently did not differ between normal participants and schizophrenia patients.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of nutrition education combined with physical exercise on healthy lifestyle behaviors and psychological well-being in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. The study was conducted with a sample of 34 individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, employing a quasi-experimental research design. Patients were evaluated using pre-test, post-test, follow-up test, 'Healthy Lifestyle Behaviours Scale (HLBS)' and 'Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWBS)'.

Background: Antipsychotics are associated with side effects like weight gain, obesity, and menstrual disorders in Women, which can reduce treatment compliance and increase cardiovascular, metabolic risks, dementia, and other chronic diseases, as well as increase mortality, and reduce the quality of life in patients. Data on these effects in Vietnam are limited. This study evaluated changes in body weight, BMI, menstrual cycle, and metabolic syndrome components among female schizophrenic inpatients treated with antipsychotics.

Background: The role of sex chromosomes in transmission of schizophrenia may be revealed by studies of phenotypic characteristics.

Aim: To explore variations in dermatoglyphic parameters between probands with schizophrenia and their respective affected gender-matched parents, with unaffected controls.

Methods: The difference of the absolute finger ridge counts (AFRC) and occurrence of identical finger patterns between the male probands and their affected fathers (n = 12) was compared with that of female probands and their affected mothers (n = 15).

Background: Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder that imposes significant social burdens. Traditional treatmens, however, have limited effectiveness in addressing negative symptoms and cognitive deficits. Recent studies have indicated interventions promoting sensorimotor integration may offer potential benefits for schizophrenia treatment.
