Human stress recovery response to landscapes is under discussion in Chinese settings. The present study aimed to clarify the stress recovery effects of campus street trees on graduate students in autumn. A total of 150 participants (23.75 ± 1.01 years old) completed the Trier Social Stress Test (TSST) and were then randomly assigned to view one of five virtual environments, including the street trees , , , , and the indoor environment (control). Physiological responses were measured by R-R interval and electroencephalography (EEG). Psychological responses were examined through the state version of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-S) and the Perceived Restorativeness Scale (PRS). Results showed that R-R intervals significantly increased while viewing all street trees. Both alpha and beta brainwave activities while viewing and were remarkably higher than those while viewing and . The STAI-S scores significantly decreased, and the positive PRS scores were registered after viewing street trees. We concluded that a brief virtual visual experience of campus street trees in autumn has stress recovery effects on graduate students, and the different levels of stress recovery are associated with different types of street trees.

Background: We utilised novel prenatal depression screening data in a population sample to develop a machine learning-based prediction model for postpartum psychiatric admissions.
Methods: We used health administrative data from Queensland, Australia, containing 945 clinical and demographic variables for 205,495 pregnancies between July 2015 and January 2021. Two machine learning algorithms, gradient-boosted trees and elastic net regularisation, were compared to predict postpartum psychiatric admissions occurring within 12 months of neonatal discharge.

Ambient air pollution has been linked to several health endpoints. The WHO attributes 7 million deaths annually to air pollution with particulate matter (PM) being the pollutant of critical importance due to its devastating health effects. Air quality monitoring is very limited in sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries and although satellite remote sensing has helped to bridge the huge air quality data gaps, these measurements have not been validated against ground-level measurements in these countries.

The multispecies coalescent (MSC) model accounts for genealogical fluctuations across the genome and provides a framework for analyzing genomic data from closely related species to estimate species phylogenies and divergence times, infer interspecific gene flow, and delineate species boundaries. As the MSC model assumes correct sequences, sequencing and genotyping errors at low read depths may be a serious concern. Here, we use computer simulation to assess the impact of genotyping errors in phylogenomic data on Bayesian inference of the species tree and population parameters such as species split times, population sizes, and the rate of gene flow.
