Hemoptysis, defined as the expectoration of blood originating from the lower respiratory tract, is a clinical symptom with a wide differential diagnosis that ranges from benign to life-threatening causes. Common causes vary by geographic region and care setting, with respiratory infections, malignancy, bronchiectasis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease being predominant in resource-rich countries and tuberculosis remaining the leading cause in resource-limited areas. Though most cases are mild and self-limited, hemoptysis can be a life-threatening medical emergency; these cases are associated with a mortality exceeding 50%, primarily due to asphyxia.

Background And Objectives: Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is a common neurosurgical condition, particularly in elderly patients. Middle meningeal artery embolization (MMAE) has emerged as a promising intervention, while statins have been explored for their anti-inflammatory and angiogenesis-modulating properties. This study aims to evaluate the impact of MMAE and statins, alone and in combination with surgery, on cSDH outcomes.

Background: Since 2013, we have performed conversion surgery after hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) for initially unresectable locally advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (LA-HCC).

Methods: Between 2013 and 2021, we assessed the surgical and oncological outcomes and pathological findings of patients with LA-HCC without extrahepatic spread (EHS) whose tumors converted from unresectable to resectable status with the New-FP regimen HAIC.

Results: We censored 153 patients with LA-HCC (Child-Pugh A, without EHS) indicated for HAIC.

Bilateral chronic subdural hematoma (bCSDH) represents a common neurosurgical entity frequently associated with elevated retreatment rates. However, the underlying mechanisms driving its high recurrence remain incompletely understood. Emerging evidence implicates the middle meningeal artery (MMA) in the pathogenesis and progression of chronic subdural hematomas.
