Visible light communication (VLC) can provide a dedicated, secure, and high data rate wireless transmission link. It has gained considerable attentions recently, and is considered as one of the promising technologies for beyond 5G mobile and wireless communications. In this work, we demonstrate a VLC system with a recorded data rate of 40.665 Gbit/s using tricolor red, green and blue (RGB) laser diodes (LDs) and polarization multiplexing. 2 m free-space transmission distance is achieved. The implementation of bit-loading, power-loading, and polarization multiplexing are discussed. Experimental bit-error-ratio (BER) results show that each of the 6 polarization and wavelength de-multiplexed channels can achieve the forward-error-correction (FEC) requirement.

Microbial contamination of absorbable collagen membranes used in guided bone regeneration (GBR) may compromise healing outcomes. This study aimed to investigate whether the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of hydrogen peroxide (HO) can improve the antibacterial effect of indocyanine green (ICG)-mediated antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (PDT) on absorbable collagen membranes while reducing the need for high HO concentrations. A laboratory-based model was developed using Streptococcus sanguinis and Staphylococcus aureus.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy of intraoral (IOPBM) and extraoral photobiomodulation (EOPBM) protocols for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis (OM) in patients with oral or oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) to submitted radiotherapy (RT).
Methods: This randomized, blinded, multicenter clinical trial enrolled 58 patients with oral or oropharyngeal SCC, who were allocated into two groups matched by treatment type, clinical stage, and RT modality. Group I (IOPBM) received intraoral photobiomodulation (PBM) with a continuous InGaAlP diode laser (660 nm, 100 mW, 0.

This study presents a novel photovoltaic triboelectric nanogenerator (PTENG) that operates on sliding contacts between n-type (gallium arsenide) GaAs and metal electrodes in the presence of periodic light illumination, which offers harvesting energy synergistically by integrating both photovoltaic and triboelectric effects to enhance the energy output. Using an in-house built test setup with provision of laser illumination, the open-circuit voltage () and short-circuit current () were measured for the n-GaAs semiconductors with different metal contacts (Al and Cu). Under both laser light (630 nm) and without laser light conditions, n-GaAs with aluminum contacts exhibited the highest and values, reaching up to 11.

Peri-implantitis (PI) is a progressive inflammatory condition characterized by the destruction of peri-implant tissues and alveolar bone loss around dental implants. Despite its rising prevalence, there are still no effective treatment protocols for the condition. This case report presents a relatively novel non-surgical approach for managing PI.

Background: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a debilitating orofacial pain disorder. Pharmacotherapy with carbamazepine is the mainstay of treatment, but adverse effects and tolerance often limit its long-term use. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has shown promise in managing various neuropathic pains, yet no study has assessed its efficacy as an adjunct in TN treatment within an Indian population.
