Telecytopathology (TCP) may allow proper and timely evaluation of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) specimens. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of TC through a multiplatform instant messenger smartphone application to evaluate specimens of EUS-FNA of pancreatic solid lesions. Twenty-three patients (14 male/9 female; median age: 56 yr.; age range: 33 - 86) with a solid pancreatic lesion were included. Exclusion criteria were as follows: age < 18 yr and predominantly cystic lesions. During each EUS-FNA, after each pass, the aspirated material was spread over a glass slide and was stained by the endoscopist. The glass slide was then reviewed on a microscope with a smartphone fitted in, and the most representative fields were captured and sent to the cytopathologist using WhatsApp Messenger. In initial evaluation using TCP rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE), adequate cellularity of the glass slide was detected in 16 of 23 patients (69.6 %). An initial diagnosis of malignancy (positive or suspicious) was possible in 14 of 23 patients (60.8 %). The current study demonstrated the feasibility of a low-cost, Internet-based, telecytopathology system using WhatsApp Messenger to provide ROSE of EUS-FNA slides in patients with solid pancreatic lesions.

Loneliness is a growing global health issue, yet real-time assessments of its objective risk and protective factors are limited. This study identifies momentary and daily predictors using digital phenotyping and temporal analysis. Analyzing 12788 momentary observations from social mobile sensing and actigraphy, we examined how they impact loneliness on average (between-person) and in daily fluctuations (within-person).

Background: The characteristics, application, and effectiveness of chatbots in improving the mental health of young people have yet to be confirmed through systematic review and meta-analysis.
Aim: This systematic review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of chatbot-delivered interventions for improving mental health among young people, identify factors influencing effectiveness, and examine feasibility and acceptability.
Methods: To identify eligible interventional studies, we systematically searched 11 databases and search engines covering a publication period of January 2014 to September 2024.

This paper engages with the problem of toxic speech online and suggests remedies inspired by the value-sensitive design literature (VSD), suggesting that the designers of online platforms should explore methods of adding friction to online conversations. Second, this paper examines a historical case of designing a communications platform to offer methods to users to inculcate norms of acceptable behavior by introducing friction into synchronous conversations. This is the case of America Online (AOL) Instant Messenger, also known as AIM, which included a feature whereby users could "warn" other users, attaching a cost to, and thus disincentivizing, certain kinds of speech.

Purpose: The study was conducted to develop a customized diet education program using mobile instant messenger for people undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD). Our goal was to examine the program's effects on diet-related self-efficacy, dietary self-care compliance, and physiological indices (hemoglobin, albumin, potassium, and phosphorus).
Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pre-post-test design.

This research examines how Russian healthcare professionals use instant messengers (in particular, the group chat function on instant messengers) for work-related tasks. Based on qualitative interviews with Russian doctors and nurses conducted in spring 2020, the article explores how the informal implementation of instant messenger's group chat function facilitated and shaped health professionals' agency in two key areas of professional control: work regulation and medical knowledge. In the first case, front-line healthcare professionals used instant messengers to make horizontal connections, share relevant regulatory information, and smooth over organizational discrepancies.
