With respect to diclofenac sodium-containing tape preparations of nonsteroidal antiphlogistic drug, we compared the pharmaceutical properties (pH, elongatedness, water-vapor permeability, adhesive force, and peeling-force) of 11 medicinal drugs (2 brand-name and 9 generic drugs) to obtain evidence for product selection in line with the needs of the patient. The elongatedness of the generic drugs Teikoku (1.39), Yutoku (1.40), and Nippon-zoki (1.43) were significantly higher than the brand-name drug Voltaren (1.22). The adhesive force was measured using the probe tack test and the inclined ball tack test. The probe tack test results of Naboal (6.8 N/cm), Teikoku (6.1 N/cm), Yutoku (5.9 N/cm), Nippon-zoki (6.2 N/cm), and Rakool (6.2 N/cm) were higher than that of Voltaren (2.0 N/cm). The inclined ball tack test results of Naboal (18.0), Teikoku (24.0), Yutoku (21.5), and Nippon-zoki (22.7) were also higher than that of Voltaren (7.2). Concerning peeling-force measurement, the 90° peeling-forces of Naboal (0.95 N), Teikoku (0.96 N), Yutoku (0.94 N), and Nippon-zoki (1.01 N) were higher than that of Voltaren (0.68 N). These results show that there were marked differences in the feeling of use of each product between the brand-name and generic drugs. The pharmacist indicates the basis for selection of a preparation according to the feeling of use desired by each patient. It has become possible to recommend products suitable for each patient, which will allow pharmacists to provide products according to the needs of each patient when a brand-name drug is changed to a generic one.

Spider silks are exceptional biomaterials: biocompatible, biodegradable, and with remarkable mechanical properties. Unfortunately, attempts to replicate them tend to fail due to the difficulty of synthesizing the proteins that constitute them, and to an incomplete understanding of their processing conditions. Here, we report a synthetic system inspired by spider silk, consisting of a synthetic polyelectrolyte with grafted oligoalanine chains.

Background: Anxiety and depression are common in adolescents, but adolescents are often uninterested in formal mental health treatments or are unable to access them. Digital interventions can be delivered at scale to bridge critical gaps in mental health care but must address the needs and preferences of adolescents.
Objective: This study aims to conduct qualitative research involving adolescents aged 18 years to inform both the design of digital mental health interventions for adolescents broadly and new features and refinements to incorporate in an automated SMS text messaging intervention, Small Steps SMS, that was originally designed for young adults.
Background: Recent studies have shown increased duodenal mucosal permeability as a possible key player in the pathophysiology of functional dyspepsia (FD). Adverse reaction to nutrients is an important candidate underlying mechanism. Intragastric infusion of fermentable oligo-, di-, monosaccharides and polyols (FODMAPs) induced symptoms reminiscent of FD with a rapid onset.

Chronic gastroduodenal symptoms experienced in functional dyspepsia, chronic nausea and vomiting syndromes, and gastroparesis affect over 10% of the global population and impose a significant healthcare burden. The relationship between aberrant gastric myoelectrical activity and symptom genesis remains incompletely defined. In this study, we evaluated the effects of gastric distension induced by a liquid nutrient drink test (LNDT) on gastric myoelectrical activity in healthy volunteers using noninvasive body surface gastric mapping (BSGM) with the Gastric Alimetry system (Auckland, New Zealand).

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) worsens both structurally and symptomatically, yet no model predicts KOA progression using Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) radiomics and biomarkers. This study aimed to develop and test the longitudinal Load-Bearing Tissue Radiomic plus Biochemical biomarker and Clinical variable Model (LBTRBC-M) to predict KOA progression.
Methods And Findings: Data from the Foundation of the National Institutes of Health Osteoarthritis Biomarkers Consortium were used.
