We have been studying simple prebiotic catalytic replicating networks as prototypes for modeling replication, complexification and Systems Chemistry. While living systems are always open and function far from equilibrium, these prebiotic networks may be open or closed, dynamic or static, divergent or convergent to a steady state. In this paper we review the properties of these simple replicating networks, and show, via four working models, how even though closed systems exhibit a wide range of emergent phenomena, many of the more interesting phenomena leading to complexification and emergence indeed require open systems.

Unlabelled: Passive Acoustic Mapping (PAM) is rapidly emerging as a ubiquitous tool for real-time localization and monitoring of therapeutic ultrasound treatments involving cavitation in the context of safety or efficacy. The ability of PAM to spatially quantify and resolve cavitation activity offers a unique opportunity to correlate the energy of cavitation phenomena with locally observed bioeffects.
Objective: We aim to develop methods of measuring and reporting spatio-temporally varying cavitation energies that are energy-preserving, device-independent, and adequately normalized to the volume of tissue being affected by the reported cavitation activity.

Salicylate toxicity usually occurs as a result of elevated serum salicylate concentrations. Salicylate concentrations can be measured in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), but the interpretation of these values is less well understood. Two phenomena believed to be associated with salicylate toxicity are neuroglycopenia and salicylate-induced coagulopathy, but these cases are typically not well-characterized.

Qualitative-archival research is not just "preservation": it shows the potential of providing dynamic and interlinked information, including legal frameworks, policy documents, historical context, and original narratives, capable of supporting policies in the long term. Besides this, it is a potential tool to foster the agency of migrants. Morover, qualitative-archival research can be a powerful tool for social innovation, as conducting qualitative research, based on individual and collective narratives, is a necessary basis to non-emergency policies and to social work planning and evaluation.

We present a clinically instructive case of a 50-year-old woman with acetylcholine receptor (AChR) antibody-positive generalized myasthenia gravis (MG) who subsequently developed glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 (GAD65) antibody-associated neurological disorders alongside a type B2 thymoma. This rare coexistence highlights the profound immune dysregulation induced by thymomas, wherein loss of self-tolerance emergence multiple concurrent autoimmune phenomena. The patient's favorable response to multimodal immunotherapy-including efgartigimod, high-dose corticosteroids, and rituximab-underscores the therapeutic imperative for early, targeted immunomodulation in such complex neuroimmunological syndromes.

Molecular spin systems that can be chemically tuned, coherently controlled, and readily integrated within devices remain central to the realization of emerging quantum technologies. Organic high-spin materials are prime candidates owing to their similarity in electronic structure to leading solid-state defect-based systems, light element composition, and the potential for entanglement and qubit operations mediated through spin-spin exchange. However, the inherent instability of these species precludes their rational design, development, and application.
