The dynamics of the intact photosystem II core complex (PSII-CC) has been investigated extensively to elucidate its excellent photofunction. However, it is significantly difficult to observe the primary photosynthetic processes in PSII-CC because a vast number of chlorophylls (Chl) in the core complex show similar spectral features. In the present work, the dynamics of the energy transfer (ET) from β-carotene (Bcr) in intact PSII-CC followed by charge separation (CS) at the reaction center (RC) with different excitation wavelengths were compared. Upon excitation at 510 nm, which selectively excites Bcr (Bcr651) inside of the D1-D2 RC, the pheophytin anion absorption band appeared within 9.6 ps. On the other hand, upon excitation at 490 nm, mainly exciting unspecified Bcr in the antenna complex, the anion band appeared after 20 ps. These excitation wavelength dependence experiments revealed a new ET pathway of PSII-CC, which indicates that the initial CS of PSII-CC is limited by ET to the RC.

In recent years Quantum Computing prominently entered in the field of Computational Chemistry, importing and transforming computational methods and ideas originally developed within other disciplines, such as Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science into algorithms able to estimate quantum properties of atoms and molecules on present and future quantum devices. An important role in this contamination process is attributed to Quantum Information techniques, having the 2-fold role of contributing to the analysis of electron correlation and entanglements and guiding the construction of wave function variational ansatzes for the Variational Quantum Eigensolver technique. This paper introduces the tool SparQ (Sparse Quantum state analysis), designed to efficiently compute fundamental quantum information theory observables on post-Hartree-Fock wave functions sparse in their definition space.

Replication of HIV-1 requires the coordinated action of host and viral transcription factors, most critically the viral transactivator Tat and the host nuclear factor κB (NF-κB). This activity is disrupted in infected cells that are cultured with extracellular vesicles (EVs) present in human semen, suggesting that they contain factors that could inform the development of new therapeutics. Here, we explored the contents of semen-derived EVs (SEVs) from uninfected donors and individuals with HIV-1 and identified host proteins that interacted with HIV Tat and the NF-κB subunit p65.

This study investigates the spatial and temporal distribution and the influencing factors of 579 cultural heritage sites along the Qin-Shu Ancient Road in Shaanxi Province, employing kernel density estimation, buffer analysis, and geographic detectors. Three key findings emerge: (1) The spatial pattern is characterized by a "line-belt-core" structure, with a belt-like aggregation along the Xi'an-Baoji-Hanzhong axis. Core concentrations are found in Xi'an (181 sites), Hanzhong (159 sites), and Ankang (122 sites), with secondary concentrations in Baoji (72 sites) and Shangluo (36 sites).
